Have you ever had a tooth pulled?
« on: December 08, 2010, 09:33:16 am »
I went to the dentist yesterday, just for a cleaning.  Turns out I was due for a set of xrays.  Then, I was informed that I had a cavity under a crown and that needed to be removed, so a new crown had to be made.  Then my dentist said I had cavities in one of my wisdom teeth and she wouldn't even think of filling them.  I haven't had a cavity in years and these were in teeth that were impossible to fill as they were.  So, I spent three hours in the dentist office and had it all done.  My whole lower jar and mouth were dead as both teeth were on the bottom.  Good thing my female dentist had a partner who is a stronger male.  I doubt she could have pulled that tooth.  It wanted to stay in my mouth.  After the feeling came back into my mouth, I just had some slight discomfort from the pulled tooth.  I seem to be fine today.

When I was a kidI had lots of teeth pulled ,including the wisdoms, to make space in my overcrowded mouth. I learned the hard way that if I ate solid food too soon and a fragment got stuck in one of the holes in my gums, I would get a nasty infection. Stick  to yogurt, pudding, and Gerber's baby food until you're healed. If you have antibiotics, take them as directed. Hope all goes well.

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled. I remember all the cracking sounds during it. I think that was the worst part. Then I had a dry socket afterward and had to go get if packed which hurt worse than the actual pulling of the teeth. But the medication was nice and helped a lot.

I had all of my wisdom tooth pulled at the same time. Im glad I did but it was painful after the medicine wore off. I had a good dentist and a couple of days later i was okay.

i had a lot of teeth pulled as a kid but now i am due to have three of my wisdom teeth out. i'm sure it's going to be painful, not to mention it's going to cost a lot of money. (my insurance is only paying for about $1200 of it.) they said they would use an iv and put me to sleep, though.

I had 10 pulled at once due to my past Bulimia. Thank God they put me to sleep BUT the recovery was horrible. Pain pills every 2-4 hours and no solid food for 10 days. I've had teeth pulled while I was awake and I think the most horrible part is the sound. I hope you feel better soon.

I was enjoying my summer vacation  right before my senior year of high school when the dentist informed me that X-Rays showed that my wisdowm teeth needed to come out.  So we made arriangements to pull all four of my wisdom teeth the next week.  After I woke up (yes they knocked me out) the dentist told me that I needed to stick 4 fingers in my mouth every hour to keep my jaw from locking up.  Now folks I want you to know that before this procedure to pull my wisdom teeth I could not stick 4 fingers in my mouth so how the heck did he figure I was going to put 4 fingers in my mouth after the procedure. >:(

I have had two teeth pulled and both sets of wisdom teeth removed. The first set was pulled and the second I had to have cut out because they were growing in sideways.

I have not, and now am very afraid! I have 2 wisdom teeth... that's alll that ever came in. Why do so many people need them pulled?

some people will never have wisdom teeth come in. i only have three in instead of four. they need to come out if there's not enough room in your mouth for them. also, one of mine has to come out because there wasn't enough room for it to even come in a little bit, so it's completely sideways. (they call those "impacted".) i'm not looking forward to it, but they can cause some serious problems if they get infected.

Seriously, the best advice is keep your sockets wet! The pain can be pretty bad if you let them dry out.
