We did away with our landline several years ago ~ an all-cellphone home now.  Haven't missed the landline at all especially the monthly bill!
Have a wonderful day!

I use Vonage...it's the same price every month and I can call anywhere in the world and talk for how long I want.....

downside is if the internet goes down...so does your phone.....so...I also have a cell phone for emergencies.....
I always wanted to be someone....
I should have been more specific...

I am the same way.  We got rid of our land line 2 years ago and saved a ton of money because of it.  We only used cell phones. However, I just got a job doing customer service at home, and one of the requirements is, you need a land line.  So, I'm forced to get one again just for this job.   Bummer.

We have magic jack but it bogs down your computer and makes it run very slow.  Also it sometimes fades out mid call.

I only have my cell phone and don't even have a home phone anymore.  I thought at first it would be really weird.  But now I'm pretty use to it.  I don't miss the bill either.

I have AT&T now with my cell phone and I hate the dead zone areas and dropped calls.  I used to have verizon and NEVER had an issue with that problem.  However, when I got my Android last year, I had to go with AT&T and I have a year left in my contract.  =(  I am glad AT&T has been working well for you though.  =)

I think you hit the nail on the head.  Service so depends on where you are geographically and sometimes that means even within miles in a certain area.  I chose AT&T because Verizon did not work in some main areas in a larger city.  They had dead spots that did not work.  Now where I live, there are dead spots with AT&T.  I have considered getting service with both just to cover those dead spot.  My brother did that with an pre-paid plan.  He has AT&T but  purchased the prepaid Verizon and got a free phone with it.  It has been good for him though he doesn't use the Verizon much.  As much as he travels for work, it is a big deal when he does need the second phone.  It has been a good affordable solution for him.  I am considering doing that and probably will some day when it is a big enough deal to warrant the extra money to have the service.

We don't have home phone service.  We just use our cell phones.  What's the point of a home phone if no one ever calls us on anything other than our cell phones anyway?  Not paying for a line that won't be used........

I use Magic Jack. I love it. It only costs me 24 per year and I could call anywhere in the USA. I also have AT&T for my cell service. But my home phone, I prefer Magic Jack. I had my hime phone from verizon, but they kept adding more and more fees to the bill. So I gave it up.

I know that land lines work with fax machines.  Does anyone have any other solutions for a fax machine without a land line?

Unfortunately all I have at this current point in time is my cell phone.  I live in an apartment so I don't see the benefit of having a home phone in addition to a cell phone.  I think a home phone will be more appropriate when I purchase a house.
