Stats on homepage
« on: March 16, 2008, 08:23:01 pm »
I was looking at the stats on the homepage and thought the numbers seemed a bit 'large'. I saw it said:

$1,499,173.53 in rewards paid
(an average of $76.37 per person)
Over one million members have joined since we opened in June 2005

Over one million members, eh? Well when you register on the site it automatically creates a forum account, correct? Then I view the bottom of the forums and it says "64240 Members." Am I missing something? ???

What you are probably not realizing is that the Forum has only been up and running since August, yet FC has been around since 2005.  Only the members that joined since the Forum has been around have had an account automatically created for them.  The older members need to sign up for the Forum, and as you can see, many of them don't.

Hope that answered your question.

Actually, your forum account is not created until you actually visit the forums.  That number is reflective of the number of members who have clicked on the "Forums" link at least once.

Your name implies that you are dishonest. If I was Kohler I would watch you like a hawk.

Why do they have to cover up what they really are? They might as well put their name as Cheater.

Oh it is because he thinks he is cool using "1337" and adding "Xx". It is very common to see kids in MMOs with dumb names like "xXD3v1LXx" "XxMurd3rxX" . My biggest pet peeve is retards that don't know the difference between a "v" and a "w" and make names like "Wampire" "Dewil" etc. They think they are "cool" but really it shows how unoriginal they are. If they came up with a name that no one else would be using they wouldn't have to alter it with "Xx", "1337", or "w" instead of "v".

I know this is off topic but what is a ftp link?

"Short for File Transfer Protocol, the protocol for exchanging files over the Internet. FTP works in the same way as HTTP for transferring Web pages from a server to a user's browser and SMTP for transferring electronic mail across the Internet in that, like these technologies, FTP uses the Internet's TCP/IP protocols to enable data transfer.

FTP is most commonly used to download a file from a server using the Internet or to upload a file to a server (e.g., uploading a Web page file to a server)."
-Taken from Webopedia

Don't ask me what it means, I just googled it for you x)
