Good morning,

I never did get to Walmart yesterday but today it is a must.  I did get the corner of the garage cleaned so we could move the deck furniture in.  It's supposed to get fairly warm today so I'm hoping to get the primer on the windows.

I got a bit of crocheting done last night and today my hands feel pretty good.  It comes and goes.  No I haven't had them checked because I have no insurance and I know they'd probably want to do carpal tunnel surgery and I'd like to avoid that if possible.  I feel like part of it is just degenerative arthritis and you can't do much about that but otherwise I'd prefer to go to a chiropractor to relieve the nerve pressure.  I keep a pampered chef bottle opener in the kitchen and use it for even the smallest of things, such as the iced tea container and pop bottles.  I just can't get those fingers to join together and have no hand strength.

I hope the cough medicine helped yesterday.  Once we get into a deep freeze some of the allergies should die down.  However, this basement grows mold and mildew and I feel like being closed up in the house in the winter isn't always the best either.

Well off to get some more stuff done before the week starts anew.

Hi Kim,

That's good you were able to get some crocheting done.  What are you working on and what colors?  I still want to try and start up again but just can't afford it yet.  All in good time, though.  I'm glad your hands were doing better today.  I wish they would everyday.  You don't have to write too much for classes do you?  I remember how painful that was, too.

The cough medicine worked great.  I did my nebulizer treatment today and took more - it helped the rest of the afternoon and evening.  I think part of this is because of how the temperatures dropped so quick in one day this past week.  It was a little too fast for my system.  Hopefully tomorrow will be better!

I agree with you about the mold and mildew.  We don't have too many houses with basements here, but I can understand how dank it can get down there.  Mold and mildew are the highest on my list of things that I'm allergic to.  I try to make sure we all stay on top of the bathrooms and keeping the sinks/tubs as clean as possible.  The sink and tub drains can really mess with me.  And with my nose sensitivity to smells, I can smell the buildup of the mold and mildew before any of them.  I guess I probably drive them a little crazy, but I know they understand.

I hope this week with school goes really good for you.  It sounds like you were able to get a little more studying in than you have been in awhile.  Bob's home this week right?  Hope you two find some nice time together here and there before he has to leave.

My neighbor surprised us tonight with a container of chocolate chip cookies that had been freshly baked.  She works the deli, and sometimes helps in the bakery, at Kroger.  She said as soon as she got a whiff of that wonderful smell she knew she had to bring some home for them and for us.  That was a delicious splurge!

Have a great Monday!  "See" you later!

Julie  :)

Julie,

I'm working on a large afghan for one of the guys that races at Bob's track.  He and his wife are always inviting us to their house for wonderful steak or ribs dinners.  He is always giving Bob gifts, such as a nice electric plane, for coaching him at the track and helping him out with tuning his cart.  They are just down right good to us and I wanted to give them this afghan for Christmas.  John is really tall though so I had to make the blanket large enough to cover him.  It's just a camel color because I wanted something neutral.  I'm about half done with it.  I have to get it done soon as I have other Christmas projects I'd like to complete and it's almost November already!

Our basement is quite damp and you can't keep much of anything down there without it getting mildew on it.  I have been keeping a dehumidifier running but the SD has stuff stored down there and there isn't enough air ciculating.  I noticed yesterday she has a room sized rug rolled up and standing upright by the fireplace it is mildewed from the floor six inches up from the bottom.  I told Bob last night that I'm giving her another week then I'm going to ask what her plans are because I have company coming for the holidays and want to get the house in order and would like the breezeway, garage and basement cleaned out by then.  I can't clean the garage until her things are gone and it's going to get too cold soon.  You just have no idea the amount of stuff she has packed into this house that has merely been discarded along with the cat.

I went yesterday and purchased a litter box so I can bring the cat in from the cold.  I just don't have the heart to keep an animal outside during bad weather.  Now the cat is mine.  She didn't care enough about it to see to its care when she left and I know if she took it to her place it wouldn't get fed half the time so I double cat dare her to try to take her now.  She is mine.

Bob is home today and going to try to get some last minute things done.  He will drive to Erie to get the sprinter and leave his car there and bring the sprinter here.  He'll leave sometime tomorrow morning for West Palm Beach.

The cookies sound wonderful.  You have some great neighbors!  I'd like to bake some for the holidays and have all the fixings but don't really have enough freezer space so I'll have to wait to closer to time.

I have a test today and even though I did a bunch of homework over the weekend I somehow managed to space this test and didn't put my study guide together until last night.  I have one thing to memorize today before 8...CAUTION signs of cancer.  Gotta get busy so I'll yak at ya later.  Have a good one.

Kim

Kim,

That's nice what you are doing for the guy and his wife.  What's extra nice and thoughtful is how you have taken his height into consideration when making it so that it's long enough.  And you can't go wrong with a neutral color!  I imagine they will love it, especially with it being hand-made!

Yay, Kim!!!  That cat has a better owner in you, for sure!  I'm with you - that kitty is now yours!!  I love your "double cat dare you" challenge!  Are you using the same name or changing it to one you prefer?  You know I'm a cat lover so I'm definitely on your side with this!

I hope Bob has a safe trip and productive time while at West Palm Beach.  That's a long way from home.  What in the world will you do with yourself with him not there for a bit, lol?  Silly question from me, I admit!  You have lots to do and things you enjoy doing - so you will be busy!  I know this lady whose husband leaves for long business trips a couple of times a year.  She about cracks up with him not there.  Some of us have urged her to take up hobbies (like crafts or knitting, crocheting); reading books; doing things on the computer; and other things, but it's like she's too attached to him and can't do anything else until he gets back.  I've always got something going on keeping me busy or content so I would do fine (I have done fine before Roddy retired and went on out-of-town trips.)  I went with him a couple of times and just enjoyed checking out the town, or piddling with things I brought with me, in the motel room.

Today's another beautiful day.  Thursday is supposed to be the warmest day of the week, up to the lower 80s.  The rest of the week is lower to mid 70s during the day.  We're down in the lower 50s to upper 40s at night.  As much as I enjoy this weather, I'm really looking forward to temperatures going at least 10 degrees lower.

By the time you read this, you'll have already taken your test from today.  How did you do?  I was pulling for you.  I'm glad you were able to get some more study time in this weekend.  Maybe you'll be able to have a better study routine now - Lord knows you deserve it.

Well, I'm going to go and spruce up some.  Honestly, this living room seems to clutter up before you know it when we all spend so much time in it!!   It's the "hub-dub" of the whole house, lol!  I like to keep it picked up though, not knowing who's going to come over or pop in at any time.  Take care and I hope you and Bob have a nice evening!

Julie  :)

Hi Dianna,

It's always great hearing from you.  I know on FB when you came back after being sick, I didn't ask you what was wrong.  That's not fun when the meds make you sick.  I sure hope you are on the mend.  That's super working on some more things.  I will definitely order something when I am able to bring some money on - still no job at this point.  Take care of yourself and I hope your tooth gives you some more relief.

Hi Dianna,

Sorry you're still dealing with that darned tooth.  How long before you get it taken care of?  I'll get out on FB and check out your new stuff.  Being unemployed I don't have much money for gifts.  I make a lot of what I give to others too.  There are things that I certainly think are cute and I'll help promote your things when I can on FB.

You certainly are one talented girl!

Julie,

I don't like it too well when Bob is gone, especially when it's the three week trips.  Part of that is the trust factor however.  It is a bit of a break in some factors though.  Lots of times I will be really lazy and do things like...sleep on top of the covers with a blanket and not mess up the bed or make it while he is gone.   :angel12:  I don't spend as much time cooking either.  I bought a head of cabbage and a bag of lettuce.  I plan on eating more salads and some meals of fried cabbage which is something I wouldn't do if he were home.  Usually I don't even brew a pot of coffee but will resort to instant for myself.

There are always things to do, studying, crocheting, exercising, household projects.  My son might come and spend a couple of days with me too.  He starts school in February and is now living much farther away so this will be a good opportunity to spend some quality time with him and give me company.  I also got a text message last night asking if I would watch the "little one" on Saturday and keep her overnight so I won't be alone that day.

I got Bob on a project for me last night.  We are having a Halloween project at school on Thursday and I had the idea to be a victim of the Titanic.  I took an old inner tube of the "little one" ,which was yellow, and covered it with a couple of layers of masking tape.  Bob hand wrote RMS Titanic Liverpool on it with black marker.  I'm going to dress in a long skirt, short jacket, boots, wet my hair down, paint my face pale white, dark circles under my eyes and blue lips and put the life preserver around my neck.  Maybe carry an oar.  If I can find something like seaweed I will stick it in my hair too.

They are giving great prizes away for the best costumes and maybe I can win something nice.

I scored a 94 on my test.  I missed two.  Not too shabby.  I also drew my first blood yesterday, on the teacher, and did okay.  I was sort of shaking when I was done though.  We have to do 10 successful arm vein draws, 10 hand draws with a butterfuly needle and six fingerpricks to pass this class.  I have done 4 of the finger prices, really easy, so far.  It wasn't as yukky as I thought it was going to be but I don't think I'd want to make a full-time job of it.

I am going to keep the cats name the same.  It's Nala.  I brought her in the night before last but she was uncomfortable about being in the house it seems.  She wanted out so I'm going to let her chart the course.  When it gets cold enough she probably be glad to come in.  She loves laying on the patio in the sun though and so far we are still having some warm afternoons.

I know what you mean about things cluttering up.  You should see my computer room right now.  When I get into study mode things just get forgotten around here and this is where I spend most of my time.

My daughter and her family will be coming up for a few days around Thanksgiving.  Her MIL is in a rest home now and they are going to come and take her out to dinner.  We will probably do the Black Friday shopping thing and then have our turkey dinner on Saturday.  So....I'll have to do some major cleaning before then.  Otherwise I'm going to chillax this next week and just work on things for school and projects I want to spend time on like my crocheting and genealogy.

Hope you have a good day.  Do you have any sub jobs lined up?

Oh BTW...I didn't see any of the Christmas peeps in the store on Sunday.  I think I'll start out with making my bath salts this week sometime and move on to the gifts in a jar later when I have more money.

TTYL,

Kim

Kim,

That's neat about the Halloween project at school!  I love your idea - make sure to take some pictures, I want to see the final look!  The school kids in the county are dressing up everyday this week.  Veronica and some of the other bus drivers are dressing up with them.  I miss that, too, from when I was a teacher - I always enjoyed being a part of the fun.

No subbing still.  They're still sticking to using the aides and para pros as subs.  I should be hearing something this week or next about SSDI, whether they accepted or rejected it.  After that, I am just not sure what to do.  Living in our big city, jobs were more available than in this small town.  Plus, I've pretty much learned, also in this town, that it's who you know and whether or not you are an outsider as to whether you get a job or not, including what type of job.

94!  Woo hoo!  Way to go!  You so needed that boost.  I'm glad for you.  I guess practice is making it better for you with all of the blood draws and pricks you are having to do now.

Kitties definitely know what they want.  They are the "kings" and "queens" after all, lol.  Like you said, when she gets too cold, she'll be hunting the door to the warmth of the house.  They do love the sun.  My cat and my son's cat sleep on top of one of the couches during the sunniest part of the day.  Their fur is hot to the touch.  Since mine is 15 yrs. old, that heat probably feels good to her joints.

Hey, I do the same if I've got free reign at home and the others are away.  Anything that is quick and easy for me to cook or drink - that's the way I usually do it.  I don't have to figure out what everybody will like and eat, especially Roddy.  He's way beyond picky with his foods.  And I understand what you mean with the trust factor.  I hope all will be fine.

That's nice that your daughter and family are coming for Thanksgiving.  Her MIL seems young to be in a rest home - is she okay?  That's neat they are taking her out to eat.  I used to enjoy doing things like Black Friday, but after being so sick, I haven't done it in several years.  I actually wouldn't mind maybe trying it this year - I know Veronica would go with me.  I'm not quite so fatigued like I was years ago and l actually look forward to doing something this year.  :)

I've got a couple of loads of laundry to finish up and then finish my paid things and emails.  You have a great night!!!  Talk to you tomorrow!

Julie,

I used to always participate in the Halloween events where I worked.  Our company made a big deal out of it and everyone had fun.

Yes I did need the boost in grades.  Now if I could just get a good blood draw.  I've only managed to get blood once out of three times and it's pretty discouraging.

My daughters MIL is 71.  She was always an active woman, lived on a farm and raised 12 kids (three sets of twins).  She had children old enough to raise her younger kids.  My son in law is one of twins.  He has a twin sister who is beautiful.  She was a body double for the main actress in the movie Kingpin and also had a bit part as an Amish girl.  She swivels her hips a bit as she is feeding lunch to the Amish guys who are working building a barn.  Each set of twins has one that is shorter and one that is taller, none identical.

It's raining here this morning.  It was nice yesterday and I finally got the primer on the windows by the deck.  Now I have to buy some more green paint and get a warm day to finish up.  All that will be left is the top side and two windows on one side of the house but those probably won't get done until next spring as Bob does the high parts and we're running out of good weather.  You can't see it from the road so it's no big deal.

I woke up through the night with the headache from hell.  I had to get up and take some alka seltzer plus cold medicine.  I'll probably take another dose before school today just as a precaution.  I hope the rain dampens down some of these allergens.

Bob might be looking at some hurricane type weather in FL.  There is one brewing around Mexico and they are expecting it to maybe hit FL.  The ten day weather forecast called for rain every day so he is in for some wet regardless.  I just hope he doesn't get the winds because that tent they work in is large and they've already lost two last year from winds.

I hope your disability does come through so you can not worry about having to work out of the house.  With the unpredicitability of your down days it's hard to plan.  That way you'd have income and could just make some spare change on FC and your Avon site.  Maybe pick up some Amazon sells with books too.????

Well I slept in today so I'm running a little later than normal.  TTYL and yes I will take lots of pictures of the Halloween costumes on Friday.  I'm part of the Hosa newsletter staff and taking pictures is part of my job.

Hi Kim,

That's interesting about your daughter's MIL and family.  3 sets of twins of the 12 children - wow!  That's how it used to be in my grandparents' days.  My mom had 14 brothers and sisters, and the one pair of twins died when very young.  My dad had 2 brothers and 2 sisters, with his 2 sisters and 1 brother still living.  Out of my mom's, there is now only 1 uncle left and I try to keep up with him and him with me.  When we are young, it seems like the aunts and uncles would never change, much less die.  Then when my mom and dad married, they only had me.

I'm glad you got the primer done - hopefully you'll get the painting part done.  Then you can finally relax and not think about it (for awhile, anyway.)

I'm really sorry about your headache.  Sometimes it seems like those are the worst - when they hit you during your sleep.  You haven't had time to prepare for it by the early signs, so by the time you wake up, it's pretty strong.  I hope it's better today and tonight.

We watched the coverage on the "trying to gather strength" hurricane last night (I think they are calling it Rina?)  I didn't even think about that being the time Bob would be down there.  Maybe it will head on opposite but you never know with them.

I've thought about Ebay before.  My son sells things ocassionally and buys things between his gamer friends.  I buy things from Ebay.  But I haven't really given an thought to Amazon.  I could probably do pretty well with all of the books I have.  Nice idea!

Your talents are showing!! That's cool you are taking pictures (on the staff!)  You are already great at that!

Veronica and some of the other bus drivers, most all teachers, and the kids, dressed Hawaiian today.  She had on a grass skirt (over jeans, lol), with a Hawaiian flower print shirt of mine, and wore flowers in her hair, and a lei.  She looked great!  She loves doing stuff like that, and I miss it from the teacher's point of view.  Tomorrow is wacky tacky day.

We think Randal is flying on his way home now (or to the base where he will be debriefed.)  That is what Roddy thinks after the last email he sent to Roddy (and the coded words he wrote.)

Veronica and I ran a couple of errands this morning, and got a couple of things done here.  I'm ready for my choir tonight.  Now I'm going to work on my paid things and my emails for a little bit.  Hope your evening is how you want it to be for you!!  Talk to you later!

Julie,

Wow your mom came from a big family too.  I was an only child too though.  Mom only had 2 sisters and dad a brother and sister but his little brother died at 9 months.  All of my aunts and uncles are gone now too.

Selling on Amazon is really easy.  All you do is enter the isbn number and the system finds the book.  You have to set the price but they give you an idea of how much other people are selling theirs for so you can come in under or about the same.

It sounds like Verionica had a good time dressing up.  Did you take pictures?

I'll be you're excited knowing Randal is on his way home.  I forget how long you said the debriefing would take.  Do you think it's possible that you'll get to see the girls before Thanksgiving?

I finally got three good blood draws.  I have six more of those to do to pass Clinicals.  I need 10 hand draws too using a butterfly needle but don't expect those to be as hard because you can see the veins easier.  One of the boys I drew from yesterday is willing to come back daily until I get all of my draws and he has prominent veins.

I only have a half day at school today so I'll have time to get some things caught up around the house and study for another test tomorrow.  It's raining and chilly.  My headache is still threatening but manageable.

I think I'll stop and buy my epson salts and mix up a batch of bath salts today.  Lorann Oils is calling my name and I've also started looking at trying my hand at some resin jewelry projects.  I have one can of resin I could work with and if it turns out okay that would be another thrifty gift giving item I could make for a few people.

TTYL,

Kim
