The holidays are now over and it's time for me to whip this body back in shape from too many sweets!  That's one of my New Years resolutions....what are yours?

Yeah I don't have much time to really blog either.  Nice meeting you though and if you do ever feel like talking about anything feel free to stop by again.

Mini vacation
« Reply #95 on: January 13, 2011, 02:43:58 am »
I finished up on my seasonal job as of Monday night and this week has been a mini-vacation for me.  The weather has been pretty crappy with 4-6 inches of snow and temperatures in the teens to low 20's so it's been nice to just hole up and stay in the house.  I've been stocked on groceries and no where that I HAVE to go so I just haven't gone out.  I've done some knitting, cleaning and organizing as I feel like it and probably too much time on the computer.

:cat:  I just noticed, golotomer, that your blog is already 7 pages long!  It's really growing!

I'm going to work for 2 hrs. today.  I tried on Tues., but had to miss yesterday.  I've been stuck at home for 2 wks., per pulmonologist, because of my asthma and bronchitis. She's had me on antibiotics and steroids and is keeping me away from anyone sick, since my allergy cells aren't protecting me right.  Hopefully my new shots will kick in soon and help to protect me.

I imagine you are kind of relieved that your seasonal job is over.  That was a quite different experience!

Hopefully, I'll talk to you again soon!  Have a great day! :)

I was noticing too that the blog is 7 pages long and has had over 926 hits.  Geesh if I could figure out a way to earn a dollar for each hit I'd be making some decent money!  Ideas, ideas.

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well.  Think positive thoughts, take care of yourself and get well.  I am kind of relieved that the seasonal job is over.  I'm waiting to hear if I can get the TRA funding to go back to school to be a Medical Assistant.  School is scheduled to start Feb 1st.  If I don't go back to school I have to find a full-time job and there isn't much out there that pays more than minimum wage.  I really enjoy talking to you.  TTYS.

:cat:   Thanks, golotomer.  Yes, I've got to get over this latest bout.  I'm getting cabin fever about now, lol.

I really hope funding comes through for you.  We need people out there who are willing to work in these fields and have a heart for the people, both at the same time. I would hate to know you had to get a full time job in an area you weren't happy and/or comfortable with.  We'll keep our fingers crossed!

schooling
« Reply #99 on: January 17, 2011, 05:48:37 am »
I'm still waiting to hear.  I didn't leave the house from Monday night until Friday because it was snowy and I had no where to go, didn't need groceries or any supplies.  On Friday I left for an eye exam and to run some errands and while I was out I got a call from the unemployment office that came into my voice mail at 12:30pm telling me to call their office back as the TRA waiver on file expires "tomorrow" which would have been on Saturday.  I never got home until after the UC office was closed!  Today is Sunday and tomorrow is a legal holiday so I don't know if they will be open.  If my waiver expired it is their fault for not following up on things!   I swear if I don't get my funding for school I'm going to call a congressman or senator.  I've been given incorrect information from the time this all started.

:cat:  That's definitely frustrating for you.  Sometimes going higher up seems to be the answer.  I hope it gets straightened out quickly.

:thumbsup:I think it is great that you are planning on going back to school! I am 46 and decided to go back to school myself a couple of years ago to try to obtain an accounting degree, I am unemployed, I raised three sons on my own so at times I worked double shifts at the nursing home (as a nurse aid), done in home chores for people (cleaning their houses) & at times I washed dishes, waitressed & was a bar-maid (at the same place; double shifts again; but the tips were great when I waitressed & tended bar), just to ensure that my sons had what was needed.I love animals, in fact there are 3 dogs,3 birds and 1 fish here, used to have horses also but one died of old age & the other got struck by lightening (bummer!) I wish you the best of luck in your schooling and have a wonderful time here at fusioncash!

How much longer do you have to go to finish up school?  I totally relate to you raising three sons on your own.  I raised my two daughters for many years on my own before remarrying, raising a step-daughter and my son and all with little or no help from daddy.  I continued to pay the majority of the bills and do most if not all of the leg work around the house and kids.  I've worked two jobs and worked many hours a day too.  Ah well such is life.  The kids are raised now but I do still have to support myself and IT jobs are far and few between these days so that's why I want to step into the medical field.

Good luck to you also.

I am a mom of 5. 2 Kids live with me and the other 3 live with thier dad. I am still a newlywed. I am currently trying to start my own housekeeping business. It is very hard in this days economy. I have 2 clients and luckily they are quite close. I will be turning 35 next month...where does the time go! My oldest son is gonna be 16 next month as well. He is a sophomore in highschool and starting drivers ed. Ugh I feel old! My husband and I had a tough year last year. Neither one of us had a job for 6 months. Luckily, in May he got a job. It has still been a struggle playing catchup but we are in a much better position than we were last year at this time.

Hi.  Good for you for starting your own business.  Hang in there.  It takes time to build a clientele.  If you want it to though...it will happen.  Glad to hear hubbie is working now too.  Things will get better.

You are NOT old!  I have twenty years on you so in my book...you are just a puppy.
