Hi Kim,
You're making my mouth water talking about the candy and cookies! Those are always homemade gifts that are much appreciated and enjoyed. My mother-in-law always makes things like that at Christmas. Veronica loves to spend a night with her occasionally and enjoys having her teach her a lot of things like that. And of course her grandmother is thrilled that at least 2 of her grandkids (Veronica and a cousin) want to carry on the family's traditions.
Your yarn sounds scrumptious! Your description reminds me of a series of mystery books, written by Maggie Sefton, that I really enjoy reading. The main character sort of helps to solve mysteries/murders because of hunches, or ideas, or doing "detective" work when she should be careful. All of the other main characters revolve around a yarn store. So many of them meet during lunch or time off, or to relax, at the huge table to crochet or knit while yakking. There is a connected Cafe where they enjoy coffee, tea, food. The store is filled with yarn, seasonal too, and the author always describes all the different kinds of yarn there is, including texture, rainbow, pastels, brights, sparkling, etc. That's one reason I enjoy reading her books, too. Some of her titles include, "Skein of the Crime," "Knit One, Kill Two," "Needled to Death," "A Deadly Yarn," just to mention a few. It's light reading. In the back of the books, she includes recipes of seasonal goodies that were used in the book, and she includes a yarn stitch and how to do it, or even a yarn pattern for a scarf or hat.
I'm glad you are improving somewhat with feeling a little better. The Christmas program is next Wednesday night.
That's great that Bob has at least Christmas day with you before leaving. I know you'll get a lot of accomplished on break, but make sure to get out and about, okay?
I'm glad it's Friday, too. I haven't heard from Randal about the weekend. I'm guessing by now that he really is under an ultimatum from her that's it's either her or us, not both. I'm pretty sure he just doesn't want to admit it to me. If that's the case, I don't like having the girls dangled in front of me and then pulled back. I'd rather him just be honest instead of getting my hopes up just to have them crash. I know it's going to take time, if I can just hold on emotionally.
Hope you and Bob have a nice Friday evening and a wonderful weekend!
Julie
