Kim,

Thanks for your support and encouragement.  You're right, we gotta pull up and out.  I hope you are doing okay - hang in there.

Honestly, the food poisoning should be better by now.  Apparently, I'm also having side effects to the new med she put me on, Daliresp.  I'm still not holding food down and I'm having a horrible time with my tummy.  I'm to call her back tomorrow if it's the same or worse.

Hopefully, I can talk more tomorrow and will feel better.  I'm not sure I'll make it to FB tonight - just not up to it (at this moment, anyway...)

You probably needed the break last night.  I hope tonight goes better for you.  Have Bob massage your neck and shoulders for a special treat!  Take care.

Julie,

Yes, if it was food poisoning it should have worked itself out of your system by now.  Keep me posted on how you are feeling.  We're leaving for Indianapolis today around 10 but I'll have internet connection and will be checking FB, emails and hopefully able to do my daily click throughs on here.

I'm excited about the trip.  I'll get to see my old friend Marilyn, downtown Indy decorated for Christmas and Conseco field house for the race.  Marilyn has baked us a poppyseed lemon cake and manicotti for tonight.  She said we're going to make some type of cookie made with a pretzel, a Hershey's kiss and topped with one M&M.  I don't believe I've ever seen or eaten one so I'm curious.  Roy will be taking us out to eat on Saturday and I'm not sure about Sunday yet but I'm hoping to get to Penn Station for one of my favorite artichoke subs and have Bob try one.  :)

I've made a baby blanket for her that she needs for a niece this month.  I've also made her a scarf and am in the process of finishing up a rug for her.  She loves my crocheted things and has an entire quilt rack full of afghan's I've made her over the years.  If she sees a new pattern she likes I usually get an email with the picture of it and a hint.   :P

The neighbor baked a nut bread yesterday and brought us a warm loaf.  It's made with a real bread crust and then the filling.  It is sooooo good.  She said if I bought the ingredients she'll spend an afternoon with me next week showing me how to make it.  The recipe makes ten loaves and would make a nice Christmas gift for people.  I've never really learned how to make breads, other than with my bread machine, so I'll be glad to have a lesson from a pro.

Wow this entire message has been about food and there you are not able to hold any down.  That's just not fair!  Shame on me.

Feel better my friend and we'll be in touch I'm sure.

Hi Kim,

Lol, you are right about all of that food!  That's fine.  I've held food down today - yay!!  Tummy is still sensitive, but I am so glad to be feeling better!

I'm excited for you about your weekend trip!  It sounds like a fun and relaxing time for you both and for you and your friend.  I'm really glad you are going.  If you think about it take some pics of downtown Indy decorated for Christmas.  The poppyseed lemon cake sounds delicious!  As does the nut bread!  And it sounds like your friend is hooked on your afghans, lol!  She knows what she likes and is loyal to you.

Not sure what's happening this weekend since we were to have had the girls.  If I feel better tomorrow, I do want to get a couple of Christmas gifts and some stocking stuffers.  Veronica and I are going to look at some recipes for cookies and breads and see if there are a couple of things we would like to try and make.

Well you have fun, be safe, and stay warm!  Talk to you later!

Julie  :)

Julie,

Just a quick note.  We are in Indy.  The poppyseed cake is delicious.  Here is the url for the recipe.

http://www.kitchenparade.com/2009/05/poppy-seed-cakes.php

I believe we will take Marilyn out to breakfast this morning.  Not sure what else is planned.  We have to be at Conseco Field house around noon today.

Glad you are feeling better.  I'm going to try to squeeze a game or two in this morning so I can keep up and don't get over run by trees, stones and weeds.

Later gator.

Hi - I was 60 this year and have over 25 years in IT. Tough place to find a job these days. I am planning to go back and finish my doctorate this coming year (I have 20 credits completed). I click to make this all work and have fun.  I have found that no matter what your work state is that seeing it as "working for yourself" is always the best way to go. In truth you are. So working for others or not - you are always self employed.

Hi and welcome!  That is wonderful that you are going back to finish your doctorate.  I love your positive outlook.  Hope to see you again!  :)

Kim,

Thanks for the recipe!  I saved it so I could check it out later.  It looks like something even I could handle, lol.

My computer crashed last night.  So I didn't get to do much, especially since I got on later in the day.  My son fixed it for me thank goodness.  He put protection on it this time.

Sounds like you're having fun.  I'm glad.  How is the weather up there?  It's cold and clouded over here and another nor'easter is supposed to start coming through tomorrow.

Have a great time!  See you tomorrow!

Julie  :)

Sorry to hear that tigerlilly.  There are some work at home jobs you could check into.  Alpine Access is one.  Go to Kim Komandos website and search for work at home.  It will bring up a link.  I for one know that Alpine Access is for real.  I have a friend that works for them and I was actually hired by them at one time but fell inactive in their rosters because I couldn't commit to more than 20 hours of week at that time.  Long story.  Good luck though and if you need more information feel free to ask.
Thanks for the information on Alpine Access. I will look it up too.

Hi Ptfunds.  I too had 20 years in IT before they outsourced my job to India.  I think getting your doctorate is a great idea.  Clicking through here does help the purse a bit and yep you are working for yourself.  I figure if I found 15 cents or more laying on the street I'd bend over to pick it up so why not here?

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you pay us a visit more often.

Glad you got home okay!  Take it a little easy today, okay?  I'm going to try to go to our adult Christmas Dinner at church tonight.  I still have a messed up tummy from this new med but I can pick at something little.  It would be nice getting out for a little bit after being so sick.  It's not everyday we still have an actual "date!"  Talk to you later!

Julie,

Still playing catch up here.  Had an appointment yesterday at noon and squeezed some time in for a little Christmas shopping.  Socks, undies and little things for Bob.  I can't find what I want to get him in the stores so I guess I'm going to do a little online shopping.  Tonight I'm taking Rose to the dinner for the Paint The Town.  They will announce the winners for the best windows.  It's a free dinner so worth it to me either way.  We are watching Amya today and will keep her tomorrow night while her mom goes to the Christmas dinner being held for the hospital employees.  I'm looking forward to this coming weekend to bake and do some odds and ends around the house but there will be the whole flurry of activities the following week.

Sorry about your computer crash but it appears you are running again and starting to feel better.  Woot, woot!  About time.  Have to run and do some English.  The final test is coming up next week.

One more test in Patho too...reproduction system so hopefully I'll do well.  I'm one point away from an A in her class but squeezing points out of that woman is like pulling your own teeth.

Later.

Hi Kim,

Great to hear from you!  Let me know how Rose comes out - I hope she gets it!  Hey, and a free dinner, to boot - not bad!

Hope you do great on your finals.  Lol about squeezing points out of that one instructor - you paint a funny picture, but very real at the same time.

Have fun with Amya while she's staying over.  I really hope I get to see those girls this weekend.  Do you remember me telling you when the Resort at the beach lost my car keys at the class reunion in June?  I'm using my free weekend stay this weekend with Veronica and I.  We have Christmas at my FIL's Saturday afternoon.  Then I'm hoping to still have the girls stay with Veronica and I Saturday night.  Sunday I want to take the girls to see their great-grandparents and then meet back up with Randal.  Veronica has a dr. appt. Monday morning, so after she gets back from that, we'll check out and come back home.  I'm hoping to enjoy some walking in the cold wind on that beach while we're there (just Veronica and I.)

I have some more labwork tomorrow to do per my new pulmonologist.  I had to go to the Health Clinic Thursday per SSDI to have a "vision test."  I think that was more of a set up visit for me to be observed - I'm constantly checked out by my doctors and my eye specialist.  But, hey, it's another step closer.  I also am calling SSDI tomorrow to update them on my new pulmonologist, labwork being done, and the 3 new meds.

Take care; talk to you tomorrow!

Julie  :)
