Thanks for the prayers.  Yes, I feel horrible for Japan with the earthquake/tsunami.  They have really suffered.  My prayers are with them and their friends/families.  I noticed that they have mentioned alerts for tsunamis to Hawaii and California.  I sure hope things will calm down fast.

I'm glad you have a study group with some nice people.  I hope you will do really well with your schooling.

My daughter is feeling a little better today -- enough to get up and sit up a little more.  I'm doing okay.  By being home with her this week, it has given me another week to rest myself when she's resting.

Talk to you soon!

Julie  :)

I'm glad your daughter if feeling some better and that in the process you had a chance to rest a bit.  Down time is important.

I have two tests to study for this weekend and my BF is leaving Sunday night and will be gone for three weeks this time.  I will miss him, of course, but with all the studying I do I feel as though I'm neglecting him most of the time anyhow.  I'm hoping things will slow down a bit for the next semester and during the summer months.  I will be at the track with him most weekends for the races but I should be able to sit in the sun and study while he is working on the karts so we can be together in a way.  I used to sit and knit anyhow so the only difference will be the books in my lap instead of needles and yarn.  lol.

I think the snow has finally stopped but it left about 6 inches on the ground.  It is so heavy the trees are losing lots of limbs.  I'm looking forward to some nice warm days so I can do some clean up and start planting.

Well have to go crack the books so will talk to you later.  Have a great weekend.

Kim

You remind me of the days my kids were in outdoor sports.  I always had my college books with me, studying.  I got more studying done at the practices because I didn't have to give my all to cheering them like the real games, lol.

I know you may not be on this weekend as much with two tests to study for, but in case you do, I hope you have a great weekend with your BF before he leaves!

Sunday's missive

Isn't if funny that we still talk on here more than on FB?  It gives me a central location to hit so I can post on the forum and I try to do my daily in the least amount of time so I can move on to other daily tasks.

You are right though, I have studied pretty much all weekend except for doing some housework and we did watch a movie last night.  I fell to sleep a couple of times through the movie but still managed to follow along and know what it was about.

The one thing I miss about going to school is that I don't have as much time to crochet.  I usually make most of my Christmas gifts and this year is going to be slim because I usually work on things all year round.

Glad your daughter is feeling some better.  Do you go back to work tomorrow?

TTYL,

Kim

I actually work Tuesdays - Thursdays.  I will probably try and go back Tues.  She is able to look out for herself now with her not passing out whenever.  I was worried leaving her until that got under control.  She goes for another follow-up on Thursday so we tried to get the appt. before my work.

You may be able to find a day or an evening to fit your crocheting in - you might surprise yourself with an open window of time.  Maybe on FB you could even post a couple of pictures of things you've made - I would love to see them!!!

Keep up the good work and have a productive but great week!  Talk to you soon!

crocheted things
« Reply #185 on: March 14, 2011, 02:24:56 am »
I did get a little crocheting in over the weekend.  ;)  I have posted some of the things I've crocheted on FB in the past along with pictures.  You'd have to go through the older posts to see them.  I have another website that I post on too but haven't done anything on there for a while either, due to time constraits.  That address is mindtreasury.blogspot.com.

Have to run this morning so I can study some more before my test.  TTYL.

:cat:  I checked out your site and followed it.  It's a neat place to wander through.  Your curtains are lovely - very flattering.  And the little hats are quite charming.  I would love one for mine but she probably wouldn't let me put it on her!!  I'll check out FB for the rest.  "See" ya later!!  :)

Crocheted things

Wow you really did go through a lot of posts on FB to get to the site with the curtains.  :)  I have to make a website for a project at school so I will probably just pull a lot of material from the site over to make it easier.  I'll probably use the pictures of the sock monkies and Kermit wearing their crocheted hats.  My cousin is a photographer and she is the one that did the pictures of her cat with the hats on and photoshopped Yukki in Paris.  :)

I enjoyed browsing through your pictures.  You and your cousin are both very talented.  Those are great pictures of her and Yukki.  At first I thought Yukki was yours. Yukki is a wonderful sport and appears to really enjoying posing for the pics.  Your doggie is precious.  Life is a lot more complete with our pets!!!

My daughter is not holding all her soft foods down.  I told her we are going to the dr. tomorrow instead of Thurs.  I just wonder is something deeper is going on besides the UTI (and the kidney stone.)

I know you are busy studying - hope all is going well in that respect.  Have a great rest of the week.

Julie  :)

Judy,

Yes it sure sounds like there is something more going on with your daughter.  I would have thought enough time had elapsed for her other problem to be under control and her to be feeling better.  Keep after those doctors and make them figure this out.  Prayers.

Keep me posted.

Kim

:cat:   Happy St. Patrick's Day to all of you!  :)

Kim,

I took my daughter in today.  They sent her for more labwork to see if there is bacteria in the stomach.  They are going to also set her up for (sounds like): Hide-a-scan (I know that's not the right spelling, etc.) to use the radioactive dye to check her gallbladder for blockage/problems.  After that, she's going to have the kidney stone crushed.  It causing some bleeding and some pain in her side.  Hopefully they will get her fixed up like new soon (for her sake.)

I saw you in Florezitta's thread today!  There are some really nice people in there.

Hope your school is getting a little easier for you now.  How did you do on your two tests?  I know you're busy - talk with you later!!

Julie  :)

I had three tests in three days.  I got an A in Medical Terminolgy, a B in Clinical and I don't have the results of my math test yet.  I think things will start to get easier now.  I have finally figured out the best methods for using the books and a way to make study guides for each subject that really helps.  Math is going to move into accounting and check book balancing so that is an area I'm familiar with.  Computer class I currently have 105 percent because of extra credits.  I think I'll be okay at least for the rest of this semester.  Second semester is light too so that will alleviate some of the work during the summer but third semester looks killer!  Law and Ethics, Anatomy come into play along with the rest of the stuff in Med Term and Clincials like blood draws and injections.

Goodness, you have some heavy classes to take.  I wish you the best!  I took medical transcription several years ago.  It was hard, but I really did enjoy learning the medical terms/definitions.  I do okay in that kind of area.  Law and ethics sounds pretty involved, but interesting. My daughter has been taking correspondence classes for medical and billing specialist, and has taken a break from it because of what's going on with her right now.  I'd like to see her finish.

transcription
« Reply #193 on: March 19, 2011, 03:14:00 am »
Did you ever work at the medical coding and transcription?  It will be part of my training too.  That is what I really wanted to go to school for but I'm on TRA funding (my job was outsourced to another country) and they wouldn't approve that training.  They said the field is too saturated.  I know that the medical assistant jobs don't pay much and if I had gone for LPN I'd make more money and wouldn't have had to go to school 18 months (they only train for 12 months) but I couldn't get approval for that either.  Crazy how they figure things.

I guess the best way for me to make money will be to do the phlebotomy but then again maybe I could still get my foot in the door with the medical billing and transcription.  That's my hope.

No, I didn't actually get a job doing it - like you said it was saturated back then.  My biggest reason, however, is that I got very sick during that time - doing way too much, not listening to the doctor, and then by the time I did listen (because she told me that if I wanted to enjoy my precious family the next year that I had better listen) I got sick and had to take a year off from almost everything. I taught Elementary Music (24 classes a week), Jr. High Chorus, Sr. High Chorus, and in the church end of it, was over the Children's Choirs and Youth Choir.  That's when the asthma/bronchitis/anemia/fatigue all set in and took over.  It was awful.  I'm better now, after all this time, but it took a toll on my health - I've not been the same since and carry a "medicine bag" around. I'm under my primary, my asthma/allergy specialist, and my pulmonologist, and between them I am still going through tests, shots, meds, and strict instructions about what I can and can't do.  I'm paying for not listening the first time to my doctor. :(

Anyway (sorry so lengthy), after everything happened, I wasn't up on my terms, and new changes with things with the transcription, and never picked back up on it.  I still have my big medical book, class books, etc. I'm still interested, though, and since meeting you, it's made me want to at least see what's changed with it.

It's strange, yes, how they figure their funding, etc.  At least everything you are taking, could get your foot in the door for possible work later with the medical billing and transcription. I just hope my daughter will keep plodding on while she's able and maybe get her foot in the door.  I told her about you and what you are doing in this area.
