First day of school
« Reply #105 on: February 01, 2011, 01:50:49 am »
I am 56 years old, will be 57 next week, and today is my first day of school to become a Medical Assistant.  I'm changing career paths mid-stream because my previous job as a Web QA analyst was outsourced to India and there aren't too many of those types of jobs left in the US and especially where I live.

This new adventure ought to be interesting.  I'm scared in ways but in others I'm actually looking forward to it and don't think I'll have too many problems with the classes.  I feel better prepared with age and experience than if I were younger and attempting the same classes.

I'll keep you posted ....whether you want to hear or not.   ;D

I'm not sure if I have posted here yet or not.. If I have, I apologize.

I'm 19 years old, a mother to a beautiful 20 month old boy, and a fiance to an incredible guy. I enjoy cooking and playing video games. I would also like to start a photography business, when I get the funds for it.

Good luck with your career change! I hope that you enjoy it!  ;D

February changes
« Reply #109 on: February 03, 2011, 02:02:32 am »
Well I started school yesterday after a false start.  My first scheduled day ended up being a snow day.  However, having a snow day as a student sure beats having to drive into work regardless of the weather because the company I worked for, and most companies (especially medical) wouldn't close the doors no matter how bad it got.

I also get a bunch of holidays and seasonal breaks that you don't get in the work-a-day-world AND always get my weekends.  Hmmm...maybe I'd like to be a Medical Assistant teacher when I finish my training.

My first chapter of the Clinical books was killer.  I spent a couple of hours trying to answer the workbook questions and didn't finish before I got too tired to continue.  I seriously doubt they expect you to finish all of it in one evening.  If so more people would be dropping out of school because they couldn't keep up.

Tata for now.

Golotomer,  I am really glad you finally get to start your schooling.  It sounds like a tough going at the start, but I know it will pay off in the end.  They need people like you out there helping others.  Hang in there!  :)

I'm 25 years old. I've been married for 5 years to my best friend (we met in 6th grade and started dating in 7th!). We live in Utah, and our first child is on the way in July! We're SO excited.

Im 36, married and bored!! My hubsand wants me to be a homemaker but who does that any more. I have to be honest Im getting lazy and thats not me. I use to spend all day on facebook playing games. That was fun at first but now I want to do something that really challenges my mind and skills. So I decided to try and find work online. Boy that is really overwhelming. So many people are after money til they will do anything to get yours. I am now trying out MRM with myNetworkingPro and it seems to be a good thing for me so far. I am meetig lots of people that take business seriously and Im ready to learn all it is to learn about it. Well guess thats it for now.

I completely understand in today world it"s hard to find a good standing job. I especially know that in order to have a better chance i life you have to have some type of degree. It's even hard for me and I'm the mother twin's. I have to depend upon my boyfriend to maintain bills in our household. I guess luckily for me I was able to find this amazing program to help out more.   :binkybaby:

Boy Glotramer, you sound just like you could be me.  Also 56 and not currently employed.  Hubby and I thought we could retire from cmmuting to work, relocate and sell our house and live off the money we had saved over 35 years of marriage.  Well, that plan didn't work, so, I am also doing surveys for a few bucks, trying to fiqure out how to make my crafts payoff - crocheting, rugmaking, quilitng, painting - considering medical transcribing or editing so I dn't have to move again/ The last move just about did me in.  Husband is working on cars and trucks but his back and knees and hips keep failing so think that may not work out and is costing a fortune!.

Any would love find out how people make money from home.  No jobs in our area and especially not for folks my age - even though I am still young engough to do just about anything.

There are actually several work at home options that are legit.  I have a friend working for one of them and she loves it.

Try Alpine Access for one.  You can also go to Kim Komando's website and there is a list of good work at home sites.  If you need more definite info let me know and I'll look it up for you.

Wow I've had quite a few new people stop by to say hi and tell me a little about yourselves.  Glad to meet everyone and Jcribb you are a gem always stopping by and greeting everyone with that built in smile of yours.  I've had a couple of you ask about work at home jobs and there are actually some legit ones out there.  They don't pay much ...9-11 to start but when you consider no commuting costs, clothes for an office job...other factors you may very well make up the difference.

I don't have time this morning to gather all of the information but Kim Komando has a nice listing of legit work at home websites.  I'll follow up on another day to see if there are any more questions being asked on the boards.  I do have a little inside knowledge about Alpine Access I can tell you.

Have a wonderful day.

Hi Jcribb.  Yep school started and things are hectic as expected.  How are things in your world?  I know you live farther south than me but it appears you could have gotten some of this ice/snow mess too.
