Good books - discussion
« on: November 06, 2010, 03:22:40 am »
I just read one of the best books I've ever read...The Art of Racing In the Rain - Garth Stein.  Now I need a new "good" book to keep me busy.  Any suggestions for you other forum readers?

I'm a big "read-geek" too! What kind of books do you read? Right now I'm reading 'Tis by Frank McCourt. It's the sequal to Angela's Ashes which was amazing, one of my favorite books! I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Jean Aul is coming out with the next book in her Clan of the Cave Bear Series in March.  I can't wait!  Anybody else a fan?

Jean Aul! YES!!! When is the book out? I have and have read them all. Awesome series, well researched.

Some might like to read "Water for Elephants" which was also good. I am reading Vince Flynn right now. I am pretty eclectic when it comes to what I read.

I read Water For Elephants.  I hear they are supposed to be making a movie from the book.

I suggested this book once before - Look Again by Lisa Scottoline.  It is very good.

Hmm.... well, I read the book "Angels & Demons" by Dan Brown...wow! it was somethin else! I loved it! Didn't like the movie very much though.
"The Prime Objective" -Ginna Grey, "Torn" -Chris Jordan, "The Oath" -Frank Peretti, "The Letter of the Law" -Tim Green, & "14" -J.T. Ellison are some other books I really enjoyed.

I like the Harry Potter books, I love all the fantasy stuff in it. Where the red fern grows is also a good book.

I would suggest any of James Patterson's books  .... I download books onto my mp3 player and listen to them all the time.

Alas Babylon was a great book. I read it as a summer reading assignment.  It was so interesting.  I loved the Great Gatsby.   It's too scandalous.  Everyone was having an affair. It was so entertaining.  I also read Perfect Chemistry.  It's total chick lit. It has a hot guy and everything. I loved the storyline though.  It made me cry

I am currently reading The Book of Basketball by Bill Simmons.  I would recommend it to anyone who likes the NBA.

Also, with all the talk about the Navy Seals, I would recommend Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell. It's an incredibly moving book.

I agree with some of the books already posted. Angels and Demons, Of Mice and Men.
Some of my favorites are:
The Dark Tower Series by Stephen King. 7 Huge books, enough reading to keep you busy for months, and I love the story.
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
The Secret Life of Bees ( can't remember the author)
If you like Fantasy there is a series called The Bartimaeus Trilogy. They are actually Young Adult books but , like Harry Potter, adults like them too.

The Odd Thomas Series by Dean Koontz is also good.

I'm reading The Complete Works Of Hans Christen Andersen. Great stories, short and easy to read. I am reading it because I have watched and own Hans Christian Anderson starring Danny Kaye.
