Does Violent Video Games Give Kids Bad Ideas or Not?

Well if you're kid is hyper for example has ADD or ADHD I don't recommend violent video games as these types of games makes them more hyper than what they already are. The reason why I bring up ADD is because my brother had it when he was younger. He's 21 now and he still tends to get hype. They tend to get a lot more frustrated when they don't pass a certain level. I think parents should really follow the content rating on the package. Don't buy a 6 yr. old a game that's intended for ages 13 and up.

I let my kids play all of my games. And they understand each and everyone. They know right from wrong and what is real and fiction.

Agreed. Video games do not turn kids violent.

If children cannot tell the difference between reality and fiction, this is not a reason to blame video games and movies. This is when parents should step in and do something.

I think it is influencial and gives them ideas. But, responsible parenting is what it all boils down too. Gotta talk to your kids daily.

i agree. i played grand theft auto when i was younger and i have never stolen a car, shot a hooker, sold drugs, or started a gang war. that's because my parents taught me the difference between entertainment and reality, the difference between right and worng, and the difference between actions in a video game versus real life where there are consequences for our actions. i limit the amount of video games my 10yr son plays because i'd rather he read or play games that challenge him intellectually, but not because i think he is getting ideas from his games

i think that video games gives a negative idea to a child because they make the games look so real like everyday life. And some parents dont watch what their kids do . they buy these games sometimes dont look at the rating. Kids sometimes cant distinguish video world from real world. and they immitate those things.

In some cases, violent videos can make a child act out, but its up to the parent to control what their children watch.  They are just too impressionable.

I personally think that video games are somewhat to blame for kids and their ideas but so are some of the violent television shows they watch. But in another way if you talk to your children on a regular basis and have them understand that everything they see is not always true.

I don't think it's good but as long as they can tell the difference between whats real and not real, then they should be fine.

yes especially if they are yound kids.. they act out what they see and it is very disturbing.
