Who's the better president?
« on: October 19, 2010, 02:15:48 pm »

I saw an article with some interesting and surprising points.

CNN Poll: Was Bush better president than Obama? – CNN Political Ticker - CNN.com Blogs
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2010/10/08/cnntime-poll-was-bush-better-president-than-obama/

According to the poll Obama was ranked a better president than Bush...but only by 2% points with a margin of error of 4.5%. So theoretically Bush could have been ranked higher.

Do you think this is true? Is Obama only barely better than Bush?

I think the poll is probably true.  Obama has been in office less than two years.  It makes sense that he leads Bush, but by the end of his one time presidency, Bush will be the winner.  Trust me, I know.

:cat:  I agree with Mickey.  Obama has been steadily creeping lower in his popularity.

In my opinion both are the exact same as far as the crap they've done to us. I mean it's not like taxes or unemployment have gone down. Wars are still being waged everywhere as well as our empire building. GTMO is still open, we're still being illegally wiretapped, there is a threatening war with Iran, still spending money needlessly on things we can not afford. Albiet it might be on social programs instead of military programs the spending is still just as high. Unconstitutional mandates still come out as quickly as possible.

Both are globalists that can't seem to understand the fact that we don't want a neocon/neoliberal approach to our government.

What gets me though is the blind following of Obama I still see the "He can't do anything wrong" or the "Bush did it, he needs time"
Both are wrong in my opinion, he's the President, take responsibility and take action. Hemming and hawing over fault will accomplish nothing. He'd garner more support from middle leaning or libetarian mindset people if he did. The Bush did it aspect, well Congress was controlled by the D's for his 2nd term. If they were so concerned over spending especially on war, then why in the hell didn't they do their due dilligance and stand up to the president like they're constitutionally allowed to do?

Neither party gets it honestly, and the people that blindly follow either of them are just as guilty for believing that we as a country can continue down this horrid road we've put ourselves in. The mentality of spending our way out of things won't work since we don't have the money to make it work. The broken window is nothing more than a fallacy.

As a man, I think he was a great person, I've heard nothing but good things about him and his wife Laura. A good friend of mine was on the HMX1 hellicopter team as a lower ranking Marine during Bush's 2nd term and into the 1st year of Obama's. He's told me some stories comparing and contrasting the two that just make my head spin, espeically as a former Marine. Laura would make them coffee and cupcakes while they were on duty up in Martha's Vineyard and other local vacation spots. Knew about their families, their children, President Bush would give them birthday cards for their kids. Said him and Laura made them feel like family. He would say that it was just like I felt like I had a 2nd set of grandparents.

Well in 8 years as president, Bush started two wars and added billions in debt and Obama's in his first term and is trying to clean up Bush's mess.  And now Bush is living like a king with a new castle and all.  As for Obama, he just started, so you have to give him a chance to see if he can clean up Bush's mess.

Again with the "Clean up Bush's Mess" mentality.
I didn't like him either but when does it come a fact that well, this your watch, it's time to actually DO something instead of just golfing and going on vactions on the taxpayer dime? He didn't just start either, he's been in office for two years now. Other than spend my children into debt they're never going to be able to pay off, increas tax liability, and continue with two wars; what exactly has he done that has benefited us any different than Bush did?

Right and who was in Congress? Please look at the bigger picture, the wars could have easily been stopped by the powers explicitly granted to congress under the powers of the constitution. Even your golden child Obama didn't vote for that to happen. He voted FOR the Patriot act, which has doubled continental defense spending, part of that billions inherited, if you were so concerned about it, why do you continue to support. Obama has spent more in two years than Bush did in 8. I can link you the CBO budget proposal that shows this, since the CBO is a nonpartisan group.

Both are globalist new world order scum that are driving this country into debt faster than we can scream. However; from Obama supporters, all I see is blind faith with more pundint flavor of "Bush's Mess". You've still given provided zero reason as to why you feel he's actually better.
