CHILD SUPPORT: GOOD BAD OR UGLY??

I KNOW THIS WILL GET ALOT OF FEEDBACK WHICH IS WELCOMED...MY QUESTION IS " DO YOU THINK CHILD SUPPORT BENEFITS THE CHILDREN OR IS IT A MONEY MAKING SCHEME TO HELP CITY AND STATE KEEP THOSE DOLLARS COMING IN?"

I don't like deadbeat parents (men or women) but believe that the recipients should be held accountable for where the money is actually spent.

It benefits the child....Or at least should depending how the parent spends it.
It is sad that we live in a world were a parent has to have legal paperwork stating that they must pay X amount of $ each month to support their own child.

I understand what you are saying. O yes the government to them deadbeat parents are cash cows, because A- if they do not pay they will go to jail which racks up big fines & B- every payment made the government gets a big chunk, and with all the lawyer fees on the government, states part they triple in their earnings,,, for what?? Helping a parent get the money to raise their child? Its disgusting really!!

Sometimes t's a very good thing and sometimes it just isn't.

In some cases a man wants to have custody of his children, but looses the custody battle just because family courts tend to favor the mothers. Sometimes he will loose even if the mother is on drugs or something and clearly shouldn't have custody. Then the mother can move away. He won't be able to see his children at all. But he still has to pay for them? Whether or not the money is actually helping them?

My boyfriend's father doesn't have a job and probably will never get one. His mother pays child support for him, but not in any official sort of way. So they've tried to send him to jail for not paying child support, and more than once my boyfriend's mom has had to miss work to go to court when she doesn't even care whether they send him to jail, when she needs the money from work. She's living paycheck to paycheck, but they pull her out of work when she doesn't want to be. That's helpful, right?

In most cases I do believe child support is a good thing, but maybe we need to try to come up with something to prevent these kinds of things.

HOW MUCH SENSE DOES IT MAKE IF YOU TAKE A PERSON LICENSE AWAY IF THEY FALL BEHIND BUT YOU EXPECT THEM TO WORK.HOW WHEN YOU JUST TOOK AWAY MOST PEOPLES ONLY WAY TO GET BACK AND FORTH TO WORK. OR EVEN MAINTAIN A JOB BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW MOST GOOD PAYING JOBS ARE MOSTLY DRIVING.

I think child support is good. It does need to be very strict on dead beat parents because these kids are not responsible for themselves and if the parent dont  what they need to do with these kids. God will hold them accountable. So they are still not getting away with this even if they dont pay that child support. God is not pleased.

I dont think is a scheme of the state all money goes to the the opposite parent. And may people take it out of porportion and use the money somewhere else other than there child. Meaning the parent who is actually get it. But on the other hand some parent use this as an excuse not to get reponsiblity or see their child.

the state don't get the money that the parent's pay for child support it go's to the child too help pay the cost of living.

being a mother of 3 children i do believe all parents that do not have custody of there children should pay child support, it helps wth school expenses and clothing and anyother expense a parent might have for their child and its not like they are being told to support their child 100 % my exes are requied to pay 32% while im paying 68 % so yes child support does benifet the child

I have been divorced for 16 1/2 years and at the hearing, the court lowered the amount by a little over $200 that my ex had to pay. I have had to take him back to court over the years for various stupid things he has done. Even though I get the money to help with the children's clothes, school, food, etc for them it is no where near enough to help cover things. I have struggled to make ends meet and my ex is buying new cars, a boat a house and living good. He doesn't buy them anything extra, no Christmas or birthday gifts until just recently and his wife has sent the kids money for their birthdays. I think with the increase of cost of living, increase in school and everything else that child support should increase to help the kids. My ex doesn't think he should pay child support. He has tried over the years to get me to lower it and even stated he would see the kids less. My oldest is in college now and I am having to pay. I think if the kids control right on into college that the ex should still pay some of the bill for school. This is for whoever is paying the child support.

Oh don't get me started, I think if you are old enought to have children and the parents are not together there should be child suppost. I don't care who have the children the other should pay childrewn suppost.
