Quote from walksalone:
People on here, ask you and others a question and request a simple yes or no. You can't do that, you have to start quoting bible verses and preaching a sermon. How hard is it to answer simple yes.......or no? Unless of course you are, as I very much suspect, attempting to distance yourself from any guilt associated with the answer, and instead want to lay all the blame at Creators feet.

Walksalone,  Sometimes answers cannot be given as a yes or no.  A few questions being asked of Christians lately, have been nothing but a "trap" and as a Christian, the Bible is one way we back our answers. We may feel a certain yes or no, but as a Christian, we also need to understand that our human answers are what we "feel" and our Lord has His own reasons for what He does and expect (example: hell) and for showing that what we "feel" is not necessarily what the absolute answer is.

Also, a couple of questions recently asked of Annella and of myself came directly from an atheist video of talk show with a couple of men that encourage these type questions, and so one poster on here was simply channeling her question and attitude right from the men with the same Yes/No only demand. That demand isn't going to "trap" a Christian into what the atheist "wants" to push the Christian to say, without the Christian backing it up scripturally.

Wow, I am just reading this thread for the first time today.

I do NOT like what I am seeing in here. I agree with Amy, I speak to Annella outside this forum and I don't perceive her as fake in any way. She isn't perfect, she gets heated and frustrated and says things in emotional upheavel...as we all do but I don't like what this thread has become.  :angry7:

This thread is nothing but flaming!  :sad1:

I say things according to scripture, not emotional upheaval.  However, frustrated is a good analogy.   ;D

:cat:  Hi, Annella!  I have been gone all day and just caught up reading my bookmarks.  There has been a lot going on in here.  Here's a couple of verses for you:
1 Peter 4:14,16
"If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part He is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified."
"Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf."

I am appalled at this "Pick on Annella Day."
It most certainly has not been a debate in here, but a "back in the corner" of Annella.

Thank you dear for the scriptures

I have no problem with "Christians" or any other group of people with the sole exception of people who think they are in anyway superior then anyone else, that goes for anyone regardless of their beliefs or lack there of.

I have never been one to sugar coat any of my words and have more of a chance for someone mis-understand my stance. It is also very hard for me to show respect to someone which I have none for.

Everyone in here knows that I show respect towards respectable people.

Well put!! And I know exactly what you mean. NO ONE is better than another just for what someone does in life. Its actually really distasteful coming on here and seeing allot of what people say and type to others. And regarding another post anyone can learn more about any belief. That pisses me off that you would tell someone to pick one and stay with it. GROW UP. There is more to the world than religion and your flock of sheep.

Amy, I needed to acknowledge and say thank you for this. Yes, it should be read by and applied to more than Annella, you are correct on that.

I've been reading and following this thread, and then I saw this:

What I do care about are all the people on FC who might be gay, who might be Islamic/Muslims, who might be absolutely terrified because they are dying right now and what do they see? They see the horrendous words you write as a follower and preacher of what is in one book and you condemning them for how they live. Remember (I know you do) talking about all the christians who wrote you because they were soooo afraid to post on here before you came along because of the 'big, bad, gang of us' who don't agree with you? Well, look at the flipside of that. Do you ever wonder who else is afraid because of what THEY see? Now put that out in real life and you'll have a HUGE clue why I get so bothered by some of what you write. Gay teenagers should not be committing suicide because of bullies under the guise of god's word.

...and I almost cried.  I think this could be applied to more than Annella, though.  There are many people on here who need to read this statement, and I think it was beautifully written, Jordandog.

For an atheist, you're extremely obsessed with religion. HAH.

For a Christian, you're extremely on par with saying clueless, cliche things.  Can't you guys come up with some original one-liners?

I would say it is not an obsession with religion at all. Believe whatever you or anyone else choose to believe. It is a strong desire to stop the harm done to huge groups of people by religion. There is a big difference. That's my opinion on it anyway.

So the same applies to you then too right? Considering you consider nothing that we say as well.

Let's examine this "I'm rubber, you're glue" assertion, shall we?  What's the major difference between you and I?  I HAVE sincerely been were you've been, the only difference being I was able to get out of my position once I realized I was wrong.

In the end realized that it just made my Faith stronger in what I do believe to be Truth, and the Bible is correct, just like I always knew it was.

You're forgetting one key detail...why does it make your faith stronger?  Because you're stubborn to any and all of the arguments based in reality; none of them matter, you're just too scared to give up your false hope of heaven, your invisible protector, your sense of community with your church.  THIS IS ALWAYS THE REAL ANSWER.

Someone (you) on the other hand can spout their stand of evolution and atheistic rhetoric as "real", when in all fairness has been blown full of holes on so many threads on this forum, it's not funny.

Newsflash: Anyone posting on a forum for $3/mo. is probably not an expert qualified to "tear holes in the fact of evolution".  Your friends copy-pasting from creationist sites might satisfy you, but almost none of it is reputable in the real world.

Quote
Even when Sherene posted websites pointing to her key points (as a Christian), you brushed all that aside

No, not entirely.  I thought about god supposedly only murdering sinful people in the OT like she claims, that was just the harsh punishment, etc.  I really did.  However, because I've been on both sides of the coin, I can now accurately judge which one is correct, and it's not Christianity.  I am not clouded by my feelings like Christianity requires; therefore, I'm able to clearly see all of the problems with it.  The reason you can't is due to your feelings and a deep-seated need for it to be true.  I, on the other hand, am brave enough to face reality for what it really is - not just what I want it to be.

Would you want to know if god didn't really exist?  A lot of people would say no.  Not me.

Are you implying that I'm still in the dark ages?

What technology you own thanks to science wasn't my point.  You've got a body in the 21st century and a mind that predates the Dark Ages.  A collection of said minds holds back and hinders scientific and societal progress.  Things aren't nearly as advanced as they could be.

Quote
All your nonsense posted above is nothing more than an effort to muddy my conviction in what I believe.....good luck  lol

And your tone proves you're dogmatic to the core.  You make bold assertions like "I know the Bible is true" - no, you don't know.  If you were intellectually honest at all you'd be able to admit that you only believe, based on very feeble evidence, and primarily because of your FEELINGS.  A.k.a. not logic, reason, or facts.

I'm mean really....your being absurd.

Heh, I'm sure jdog found it just as funny as I did that once again, you judged/were critical, grammatically-incorrect style.  And you bolded it to boot.  lol

Seriously, all god has to do is show himself and then people will accept him as real...No, he has to play a little game, so he can send people to hell.

EXACTLY.  That's something I realized when I came away from my Christianity, too, hon.

It is difficult to accept when we die that is it, many people hold onto the belief in God, no matter how awful all the stuff in the bible is because they can't deal with just being dead one day, like life never amounts to anything in the end.

Yep.  I really don't get why people are SO depressed about death.  Sure it sucks, I probably would like to live a few hundred more years, but definitely not forever.  You can only be scared about death while you're alive.  Once it happens, there will be nothing to be scared of.  So why waste your only guaranteed life worrying about it and live it up instead?
