"Don't Ask, Don't Tell"
« on: October 12, 2010, 03:43:59 pm »
Again, and always in California, a Federal Judge has ruled against the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy that affects gays serving in the Armed Forces.  Please read the attached short artilce first:  http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/10/12/judge.dont.ask.order/?hpt=T2&hpt=Sbin

Do you Agree?

How will this affect the "straight" soldiers?

Any other comments?

Thanks!

People should be able to serve no matter what their sexual preferences are.
The military is unfair they shouldn't judge people that want to help their country.

I think sexual preference is irrelevant. It shouldn't even be an issue. Especially when it comes to a job or wanting to be a soldier. If someone is willing to fight for this country, why hold them back from doing that? That's an honorable and brave thing to do and not letting them do that because of who they're attracted to is very un-American (you know, the "land of the free"?).

I don't see how someone's sexual preference could interfere with there abilities to serve in the military. Its just ridiculous to think that it does or could. Is it not our right, as Americans, to fight for this country, whether we're gay, straight, black, white, ugly, pretty, like the color pink or not? I believe so. and I don't think it would hurt anything. just because someone likes hot dogs over pizza, or pizza over hot dogs. who cares. that has absolutely nothing to do with someone's capabilities to serve in the military.

I don't understand how your sexual orientation  affects your ability to effectively be a soldier.

if these men and women are brave enough to sacrifice themselves for the sake of this country then it should not matter what sexual orientation.

Exactly! It doesn't.

wow... *bleep*?  :angry7:  you know, at that point in time, of course I've never experienced being in a fox hole, I would like to think that my mind would be on other things, like surviving, for one. Not, whether the man that is fighting for yours/our country, thats sitting next to me, likes the sausage.
