"Rent a Laptop?"
« on: October 10, 2010, 08:11:32 am »
Would you rent a laptop?  If your going on vacation/business trip and don't have a laptop...why not rent one?  Well, remember, you have to "invest" in the security deposit (depends on how much the laptop is) OR.....you can contact the company by phone and NOT have a security deposit....the question is.....who would "rent a laptop?" ......and why would you?

* Go to Google.com and search: "rent a laptop" and millions of results will come in!

My luck the first place I stopped some one would steal it.  Then you would also have all your personel information on it it.

@sdenimandlace1 - Yes, the reason I asked it is because my dad is renting a laptop (well, and because the survey thing! lol) and a cell phone BECAUSE he's going over seas.....and its $50 cheaper to rent a cell phone + laptop!

Do not waste your time or money renting a laptop. Buy an I-Pad and take it with you everywhere you go.

Why not just bring your own laptop again?

At first, the concept sounded interesting, but then I realized that there is a lot of software out there that would log EACH KEY STROKE.  Just what I need, using a laptop and checking my bank statement and knowing that they now have all that info...

I always just stayed off the computer when I went on vacation. I used to spend like my whole day on the computer and I was still okay with giving it up for a week to go camping or to the beach. Just take a break. There's no need to pay all that money.

Now I have a laptop, though, so if I really wanted to bring it on vacation I could. But unless there's internet where I'm going I won't.

I think there are a few good reasons to want to have a laptop with you. I know on our last Disney World trip at the end of the day we downloaded all of our cameras to my mom's laptop. I am not sure I would rent one though.

I would rather buy a refurbished or secondhand one than rent one.

Well that problem is easily addressed.

Buy a laptop. Desktops are not really worth it unless there's no reason for you to need a computer on the go. Laptops today are very powerful and unless you're running super high-end programs like advanced CAD's or analysis software, they are more than powerful enough to handle your needs.
