Identity Theft Victim!!!
« on: February 26, 2008, 01:01:15 pm »
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section; but since doing these surveys, I've been enrolled unknowingly into two(so far) things with a fee.
1. American Voice Ltd.
2. My Billing Guide
The problem is this: I've never even heard of these companies and someone may be stealing information!!
Just everyone please be on the lookout.
And one more thing: How do I go about turning in this type of fraud???? Please Help. The room-mate is about to kill Me and His b/f too for charges I did NOT imply!!! :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead:

Well the first thing you need to do is go back and read the TOS on each offer you compleated.  Some offers share your information with others and this may be why you are being charged for something you did not order.

Check your credit card bill for the telephone number and just call them and ask what the offer and fee are for.  Most of the time the CSR can answer your questions - keep us posted as to what happens.  ;D

Jet it is my bet that this person didn't read the TOS on all the offers and that is why there is an unknown charge.  It happens al the time to those who are not carefull of what they do.

Thank You for Your kindness in the matter. Turns out this had NOTHING to do w/ FC. They are just a rip off company. Google "american e voice Ltd"  for more information. Yes; I do read all the TOS!!!  Scams and Identity Theft can happen to anyone.

I am hoping that you are not saying that FC is a scam............... Because if you are then you are making a misconseption.

piscesmom said it had nothing to do with FC.

I have been reading a lot of your posts Jazzy and if I can make a suggestion?  Maybe spend a little more time reading other members posts and less time posting.  It is a shame that after only being here a month already five members have you on ignore.  :(

I appreciate that you are a true FC enthusist and I would bet that in real life you are very outgoing and helpful.  Give people some time and space to get to know you better by posting in a more careful manner.  You have a lot to contribute but perhaps you can space it out more over the long run.  Give it some thought and I look forward to reading your future posts that are as helpful but more focused on quality and less on quantity.;D

I use Firefox, and they have some excellent online security, I especially like the one where the whole page goes black and I get a notice with big red donut that says "THIS IS AN UNSAFE SITE".  This is available in the free downloads section of the new firefox upgrade, not sure whether it is a plug-in or an add-on, but it works well.

When that shows up, I run for the hills.

I also got signed up for some things that I didn't want some time back, and they ARE hard to get rid of, but since I started using these plug-ins from firefox it hasn't happened again.  I'm still keeping my fingers crossed, though, 'cuz we all know how easy it is to have it happen!
