I hope I can get in on this Tuesday mini promo. It is election day and I am a municipal clerk and run the election in my municipality so will be leaving the house at 6am CST and not returning home until 9pm CST or later. I can take my laptop, but if I log into FC, it is with another ip address so I don't like to push my luck doing that. It would really tick me off (at myself) if my account got locked because I was so greedy for a few cents that I had to log in from another ip address!!!!

No Your IP address is whats in your computer/Laptop if I am not mistaken.

I went to About.com and asked whether the ip address was with the computer or the network and here is the definition it gave:
Definition: An IP address is a logical address for a network adapter. The IP address uniquely identifies computers on a TCP/IP network.


So I think it is withh the network and not the computer.

Yea the network that your computer is running on. without a network you can't access anything.

No Your IP address is whats in your computer/Laptop if I am not mistaken.

Your IP address is the address of the router (network) that you are connected to.  Each router (network) has a separate IP assigned by the Internet Service Provider (ISP), but within each network it appears that each computer has a seperate IP on the network but the rest of the internet world sees ONE IP from all the computers on each network which would be the IP of the router which the internet connection travels through before it splits the connection to each computer.  So if you were on a laptop and connected to your own internet at home then left home and connected to a WIFI hotspot the IP would change just like it would if you took your desktop to another house and connected to their internet.

So... say my husband wanted to join FC.  He and I use separate laptops on the same wireless network.  Would he be able to join?

To: smithjcsdfw, I am pretty new at this too, but I have managed to find the Tuesday and Saturday promotions. Just check back here today. Kohler will post the Tuesday contest in this thread. Then you just reply with your entry. Hope this helps.
