Is the Federal Reserve really a "federal" (government) entity?  What is their role?

the federal reserve is no more federal than federal express. They are a private company. Their current role is robbing U.S. taxpayers of trillions of dollars, hoarding it, buying other banks, insurance companies, and other businesses, then they loan it back to us at inerest on the side.
