I agree with that. But I will say this, if a question is posed (such as the homosexuality thread) then each person expressing their belief in their answer, has a right to express it. There will definitely be disagreement but their answer should be tolerated as well.
There does become a sticky line when political issues are at hand that are controversial and are regarded as moral issues.
People don't want their moral beliefs infringed upon, by other people and especially government. So for example when the issue of abortion comes up, what will the doctor who is pro life vote for when his/her right to refuse to do abortions is in danger of being taken away?
I think politics is where the infringement gets the most sticky, but again if someone believes a certain way and that want that belief represented by their governing powers, they have the right to vote in the direction they want.
This kind of goes with your other post about democracy too. It's hard to have a nation full of such diversity in race, culture, religion, etc....I think it's actually a miracle we have not had more *bleep* wars amongst ourselves.
