What dose that mean the topic is closed?

Hey, I was just browsing topics and came across one that says LOCKED what dose that mean dose it mean the topic has ended, or somthing. please explain what locked means in the thread?

It means you can only read the post but you cannot post a reply. That is why the thread is "locked." To avoid losing posts, the original poster of the thread can only lock it. It cannot be deleted.
