I think the final few episodes just goes to show that it's just a bunch of teeny-boppers that are voting, and not the people most likely to go to Vegas to pay money for these shows (and until the prizes change, I still view this show as being a try-outs for new Vegas acts). True, Grimm has a good voice and will be a good blues singer, but as a Vegas act, I don't think he'll do that well. When people go to Vegas to see a show, they're looking for spectacle -- something that is really amazing and that they'll never get a chance to see anywhere else. It should be a draw in and of itself; people will plan a trip to Vegas in order to see a particular show that they couldn't see at home. With Grimm, there's no eye-candy (except if your a teen-aged girl -- then the eye-candy is Mike himself); it's just him and his guitar on a big empty stage. And as for blues singing, I don't have to fly half-way across the country in order to see some very good blues singers. In fact I'd be more inclined to travel to St. Louis to see a blues show than to go to Vegas; similarly, if I was in Vegas on vacation, I would probably pass up the blues singer for some other show like Blue Man Group, Criss Angel's Believe, Pussycat Dolls, Cirque de Soleil, etc.
Of the final four, I thought Prince Poppycock and Fighting Gravity were the only acts that I would consider to be Vegas shows that had lots of draw and spectacle; the other two were talented singers, just not Vegas acts. (Actually I had thought what would make a great show would be Poppycock and Jackie doing some opera together... Jackie would be the little girl / princess and Poppycock be some fairy prince that helps / rescues her... perhaps something like Pan's Labyrinth). So I was really upset when the results the least Vegas-y acts were voted as the top two acts.
This is not American Idol or So You Think You Can Dance?, so why do the singers and dancers get top spots?! It just drives me crazy. For a Vegas-talent competition Grimm did not deserve the win. But like I started this post, he was a shoo-in if it was being voted on by a bunch of teeny-bopper girls. He's a singer, he's cute, and he has a sob-story
