Save a kid's Life---Spread the Word---PLEASE
« on: September 11, 2010, 11:34:32 pm »
     Help spread this important message:

This is a new drug known as 'strawberry quick'. There is a very scary thing going on in the schools right now that we all need to be aware of. There is a type of crystal meth going around that looks like strawberry pop rocks (the candy that sizzles and 'pops' in your mouth). It also smells like strawberry and it is being handed out to kids in school yards. They are calling it strawberry meth or strawberry quick. Kids are ingesting this thinking that it is candy and being rushed off to the hospital in dire condition. It also comes in chocolate, peanut butter, cola, cherry, grape and orange. Please instruct your children not to accept candy from strangers and even not to accept candy that looks like this from a friend (who may have been given it and believe it is candy) and to take any that they may have to a teacher, principal, etc. immediately. Pass this email on to as many people as you can (even if they don't have kids) so that we can raise awareness and hopefully prevent any tragedies from occurring.

This e-mail started going around in 2007 and there is absolutely NOTHING to substantiate the claim. There is colored meth, there is a supposed flavored meth, BUT the part about kids and dealers giving it away is 'myth'. If you go down to the bottom half of this snopes page, you will see the OP's post in the exact same format.

The kind that wants to get the kids hooked so they come back for more?  Not that I am defending that this really happened I have no idea.  But there are all kinds of sick people in this world the kind that put razors and glass and other harmful things in kids Halloween candy.  Kids are young and naive and if a dealer wanted to get them hooked so that they came back for more it wouldn't be hard to convince them when its disguised as candy.  Its our jobs as parents to teach our children not to take anything from strangers even if it seems harmless.

They probably wouldn't if we were talking about Halloween. I was just using the tainted Halloween candy as an example for the type of people that would try to harm children.  But if we were talking about a dealer that was giving them the candy(drug) at school to get them hooked. I would imagine the dealer would return to see if they wanted more?
