meeting a guy on the internet! lol not good

I know so many people find love and happiness on line but it just seems too risky for me. I've made a ton of Friends but I'm not sure if I would actually meet them in person. Not that there is anything wrong with it as long as you're careful BUT how do you know that it's a real person and not a freak? I'm paranoid of a computer virus/hacker...

I've done a lot of internet dating and I've met good and bad-mostly bad, though.  I've gotten gay guys posing as straight guys to hide it from their friends, weirdos, alcoholics, and one guy who was a compulsive liar-alcoholic-theif all in one.  There are some good ones out there for sure, but you have to be careful and always go with your gut feeling.

My boyfriend and I spoke for 6 months before he came to visit me. He spent a month with me before going back to new jersey. He ended up moving here and we've been together going on 3 years and have a 14 month old daughter.

I think it's really bad to meet someone on the internet. I've never done it and never will. I met my match while I was working in Puerto Rico. I moved back to the US and there he was still interested in me. So interested that he moved over here and we got married after four years of dating. This July will be our 3rd year as a married couple.  It's amazing how far you have to go to find the love of your life. People may be telling the truth online but some may not. How do you discern what is truth when trying to find love over the internet?

It really depends on the site you meet them on and what for. I me my husband online, and it wasn't a dating site. We've been together for almost 5 yrs now and married for about a year.
