I have been listening to the debate about Reggie Bush and the whole scandal surrounding the alleged cheating by USC, and I don't think he should have to give the trophy back because he earned it fair and square. He was the one making the touchdowns, etc, he was the one being piled on by the opposition team- no one can take away the accomplishments he made. If he did it, he should be fined or made to do commuinty service, but taking away the trophy that he earned is unfair in my opinion- what say you???.

I think that no matter what happens, He was the SH*T during that time. He was a bad @$$ and no one change that

You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into in the first place.

It also alters all the school records and takes away wins. He happened to be just one who got caught doing it - he is certainly not the only or the first. I am glad it wasn't because of steroids or other performance enhancing drugs.

True! Atleast it wasn't for steroids or some other drug! And we all know that he's not the only one thats done it or is doing it! Its a shame though...

I agree that if he did it, that it was not Right, and as I said, some punishment must be given, but I think it is the haters from other teams, and the people who run the polls, and the people who do the rankings(from the east coast) that don't want to give west coast teams any credit anyway- look at what happens when a Cali team loses 2 games- they were number 2, and then they are number 15 the next week- why is that?- haters!. fight on USC. As for the other teams. 2 wrongs don't make it right- no one should cheat, earn your trophys and championships honestly.

I heard he gave it back.  He doesn't care.  He's Rich & Famous with a lot of $$$$$ to buy his own trophy.

The Heisman is for the best amateur football player.  Reggie was no amateur.  Having said that, giving it back will be meaningless. He was excellent in college.  The NCAA has a lot of problems and need to punish the schools in a meaningful way.  Putting a school on probation after the people who broke the rules only hurts the kids who are there now.

I love Reggie, but the fact is if he'd been on another team - one that wasn't as good because they were playing fair and square - he might not have gotten the Heisman. He still might have, but he also might not, so I think he should have to give it back. Sure, it sucks, but everyone will always still think of him as a Heisman winner, and his life is still what it is.

Most of you who have replied to this topic have really missed the point.  He accepted money or other types of value while playing college football.  It is against the rules, period.  He stole/accepted money when he knew it was totally wrong to do so.  It does not matter that other players have done the same thing.  Stealing on his part is just plain wrong.  If he wasn't quilty, he would be fighting to keep the trophy.  The problem is, he isn't fighting the issue because he knows it was wrong.  The Heisman belongs to the best player in football.  It also reflects on what he did in his off time.  And in this case, he cheated and must give this award back.  How sad, but it is the right thing for him to do.  Years down the road, he will have time to reflect and perhaps even talk to college players on what is right and wrong.   :(

No, I do NOT think anyone missed the point - should say I didn't miss the point - cannot speak for others. There has long been 2 faces to college football and just about every single person who is a fan or has gone to college knows that. I think you are out of line saying he stole money. He accepted it, he did NOT steal it. Yes, it was wrong and he knows that. Precisely why he didn't fight any of this. Why would he bring more bad to the table by fighting what has already been settled behind closed doors. Give the man a little more credit than that. I just hope you are not naive enough to think all the rest of the players out there are 'Golden Boys'. I said there is more digging going on and I won't be surprised if some other winners of various awards, not just the Heisman, will be found in the same [sinking] boat.
