Lawn Mowing
« on: September 04, 2010, 02:01:44 pm »
I have 2 acres of land and I don't mow my lawn...I have a company doing it for me...is this a rip off?  $75 for the whole thing.....I just think that's a rip off...it should be less like around $50.  Let me know your thoughts/suggestions.

i don't think thats a ripoff considering some gardener was going to charge me $50 to do my front and back lawns, but they are really small. my front lawn is probably abouut 8ft by 10ft, and the back is probably about 10ft by 12ft

Compared to prices around my area for lawn cutting in residential areas, it sounds like you are getting a great deal.  Independent mowers charge me $40 to cut my lawn, and it's about 7-8000 sq feet.  A professional service would charge me more.  So $75 for 2 acres is a great deal by that comparison.

I mow our yard myself, however I do not have 2 acres only 1/2 acre.  In my opinion $75 sounds awful steep considering it probably only takes them  one or two hours depending on the equipment they use, however I guess it also depends on your location.

ummm...that is an INCREDIBLE deal.  my brother owns a landscaping company.  no way could you get anyone in our acre to mow 2 acres for that.

$75 doesn't sound bad at all!!! If you don't like it though, I suppose you could try mowing it yourself.....seems like another discussion about
time vs. money

It depends on your location, but $75.00 off hand does not sound like a rip off at all.  Check around and see what others would charge.  Maybe you could do it yourself if you have the means?
