How do I fix my credit??

Okay I've got somethings that I caused myself on my credit  as well as something that I couldn't have caused  but I want to get all of it straightened out can anyone give me the first step  !!!

The first step is to know what's on there so you have a good idea who you need to deal with...everyone is entitled- by law- to one free copy of their credit report from all three credit bureaus- Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax. You can either call them directly or visit the government site- I won't post it so I don't get in trouble, but just google annual credit report. Also found a website that gives you one of your scores for free- but only one of them, not all three- and it also breaks it all down, gives advice, links to credit help and simulators. It's helped me get on track with everything and lets you know when your score changes. Just google free credit score and click on credit karma.

Don't be delinquent on your accounts and get rid of your credit cards.

No you don't have to get rid of credit card just use them the right way.  If you use the credit card for something make sure you know you have the money to pay for it when bill comes in the next month.  See I'm consider somewhat of a dead head due to paying off all my credit cards as they come in I don't pay just the minimmun amount I pay all of it.  Most credit card companys like people tha tmake monthly payments instead of people that pay off all of it at one time.  Just make all payments on time of all bills.  Make sure to be on time with bills.  Use credit  cards wisely.  I don't use debit cards too risky.  Too easy to get your info from.  Make sure to get your free credit report and check it from time to time if you have any worries.  If you have a problem then go to the company(s) and fix it with them.  Set up payment plan or something with them.  Don't let things ride.  freecreditreport is one you want.  If you see a problem on your credit report then report it to them they will help you.

Once you've got copies of your credit reports online, dispute the stuff that shouldn't be there. This should take 30 days. If the CRA's delete it, you're done! If not, you're probably going to need to write some letters to the companies themselves that are reporting and shouldn't be and ask them to delete. You might find out that it is in fact your debt, in which case work with them to get it paid off in exchange for them deleting. Do the same thing with the problem areas that really should be there.
