avg is really good. thats what we used before we bought norton.  Norton is great, but it does cost about 40 a year to have.  we bought the one for 3 computes and split it with 2 other people, so to knock down the price.  it was like 80.  but if u divide that by 3   its only like 27.00 each.     plus if u have kids that get on your computer it has parental controls u can set

I swear by Avast, it's free! It lets you know if there's a virus on a webpage and prompts you to abort connection and finds anything strange when you do scans. I haven't gotten a virus yet using it for many years. :)

You just need to enter your e-mail and they send you a registration code, every year they'll prompt you to renew by entering your e-mail again for a new code.

Last week I would have said AVG...now I have to say Microsoft Security Essentials or Avast. My computer was hit with the AVG fake virus...spent two days on the phone with Microsoft trying to get my computer back. Nasty virus, took out my browser and all audio. I also use Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyWare.
