I need a good antivirus protection for my computer. Is there any out there that are free, by chance??

I have Norton and like it very much. It does cost me about $40 a year, but so worth it to me. As for free antivirus programs how about you try AVG  (avg.com). My family at home in Ireland use it and find it to be very effective without the cost of paying for an antivirus program. Also, if you want an anti malware program that is free try malwarebytes (malwarebytes.com). I use that one for malware and its great. I have been thinking about actually paying for it (24.99 per year) so that my computer will automatically be protected without me having to scan manually each time. Hope that helps helps you.

AVG, Avira, and Avast are all good anti-virus software you can get free.  I'm currently using Avira, and have used AVG in the past.  Both work(ed) well for me, and the only reason I changed was AVG started becoming more and more resource hungry, and was bogging my computer down (I didn't have enough RAM at the time).

As irishlady mentioned, malwarebytes is a well regarded free malware scanner.  I currently use SUPERAntiSpyware, which is also free, and it has done a very good job.

I pay for Norton but always recommend Avast as a freebie. Malwarebytes too but remember that is not a live scanner you have to do that one manually - it picks up tons of trojans, malware etc so worth having

AVG is the best free one.

If you need a firewall too, I recommend ZoneAlarm.

Good luck.

windows vista used to give onecare free, but they quit when things switched to windows 7, you still might look to see if they offer a free trial anymore, even for windows 7.

I met a computer programmer and I needed him to come to my home and do some work on my computer.  I used to pay for those anti virus programs but he gave me one that was free and I have been using it for a year and ot works fine.  The name of it is AVAST.  Hope this helps.
