potty training... (help!!!)

i have a 20 month little girl who takes off her diapers AND her pull ups!! she started telling me she had to go poo poo and pee pee my showing me she would touch her self and have this concentrating look... and so i decided it was potty training time and i did it last week for 2 days then got annoyed and started to google things and it said patience is KEY so i started again yesterday and today but shes not getting it!! we will literally sit on the potty of 5-10 mins and as soon as i take her off the potty she pees!!!!!! is she not ready??

do you have any tips?!

how old was your little one when she/he was potty trained???

I personally feel that 20 months is too young to train.  If you train them too young then they tend to regress.  I am a preschool teacher of 4 and 5 year olds and have seen parents try to train their child before they are even 2 and it is hard to do.

my elder daughter i didnt start potty training even till 28 mons but, when i sent her to a montessori, she use to come with dry diapers even after 3 hrs, meaning shez ready for potty train, then my frd she asked me try to make her potty (Pee) every hr or so, i did that till she was 3.5 half yrs i had hard time with accidents there i was trying to be patient, i did now shez 5.5 even now accidents happen in the night in her bed soooooo hard to be patient in those time where u have a big cleaning job

with my younger daughter she was ready when she was 20 mons i dont even put diapers except night now shez 33 mons she still makes accidents, but, it takes time... really u have to be patient
Pooping they get easily trained when they are 18 mons to 22 mons, but, peeing is the hardest part they get :-)
WHEN A KID IS READY FOR POTTY TRAIN

1. When she/he feels that his/her diaper is WET
2. Takes the diaper off
3. Having DRY diapers for more than 2 hrs.

these are the SYMPTOMS u have to look at.
I know itz not easy anyhow

My daughter is 2 and is not potty trained yet you do have to be patient with them. It takes time but it will come. Have her follow you to the bathroom. It might help her learn.

My daughter is turning 2 this week, she used the potty once at daycare, she isnt telling us her diaper is wet, nor does she take it off but we are getting her a potty for her birthday.  We want her to get used to it, maybe have her sit on it a few times.  When kids want to they will let you know, otherwise stick to diapers and find a way to keep them on!

If she isn't ready to potty train yet but you have a hard time keeping diapers on, try duct tape.  I know it sounds ridiculous but it works.  Take take a strip that's maybe 5 inches long and secure the straps down.  It really works and it only takes a few extra seconds.  I promise it will save a lot of clean up!

Working on potty training myself, have been for like 3 months and my son still dont alway understand hes gotta go to the bathroom, he normally gets to busy playing and says he dont ahve to use the potty.. but im gonna keep working with him so he can go to preschool in October, when hes 3

From what I've read and seen...every child is different.  All the sites tell you that each child shows different signs of readiness.  For example, my daughter will be 2 in September.  She has dry diapers over night and for hours at a time during the day.  She stops and squats and tells me she's poo pooed or pee peed.  She takes her diaper off when its wet or full and brings it to me, saying poo poo or pee pee.  I give her naked time when it is just us at home while her daddy is at work and she will go for 4 or so hours dry, will ask to use her potty, but will not go until she's gotten up from the potty (I think the few times she's used the potty, it scared her).  I'm slowly starting with her, but I'm not going to let anyone tell me I'm not doing it right.  You know your child better than anyone else...if you feel they are ready, you would know better than anyone else.  Good luck!

Don't force them and try to make it fun for them, try the potty training dance, huggies got out, try cartoon character potty chairs. don't push, if you make them sit, they will think they are in punishment, and that is all they will get out of it. It takes time and patience. make it a good experience.

I have been told its kinda like puppies, watch their fluid intake, wait 30 to an hour and ask if they want to sit on the potty, wait a few minute if nothing happens let her off and wait another 30 minutes and ask again.  When they do go give them a sticker or a treat or some sort of prize.

my little girl is 3 and has been potty trained for over a year. i bought blue Fabuloso floor cleaner and put a tiny bit in her potty. it makes it smell better and she would pee in it to make it change colors. gross but it worked! and no fluids an hour and a half before bed. and when you put her to bed make her sit on the potty for 5 minutes first. also they like potty training books for kids. i got mine one at walmart. it had a chart and stickers and she still loves that book! good luck. patience is hard when you go through potty training.

wait till she comes to you don't force it or you and she will get frustrated.  When you go to the bathroom take her and put her on the potty chair or when your done on the pottie to get the idea and when she is ready she will take to it without frustration.

I don't have kids, but I remember what my parents said when they trained me... Instead of stickers, my prize for a good job on the potty was a drink of soda. Normally I only got milk or juice to drink, so the pop was a sweet treat. Plus the added liquid and diuretic effects of caffeine (in some of the drinks) just increased the frequency that I had to go. So there was constant practice and positive feedback. I guess I was trained in just one weekend with that trick. Unfortunately (for my parents) I just liked wearing my training undies till I was into Kindergarten and my friends started showing off their underoos.

I have the same issues. I have twin daughters 3 years old they refuse to go potty.
I have tried everything videos, books, different training diapers, I have purchased 3 fun and interesting potties, awards for potty use, and nothing works.
They look at me and say " it's okay mommy I like my diapers I don't have to use a potty"
It's funny though the one year old took her pamper off and went potty the other day at least I have one of them doing it lol.
