Gender

I've always wondered...why does everyone assume that G-d is a dude?  Why do people feel the need to place a gender on the Creator?  And, honestly, wouldn't female be a more logical gender for G-d considering that life spawns from a woman's body (with a bit of help from the males, of course)?

Because the idea of a monotheistic being was created in patriarchal, often misogynistic, societies.

Yeah, the Christian prayers tend to lean that way.  But, that is circumventing the issue.  I asked why people assume that, and you responded cause a nickname is heavenly father.  Is there another reason, or is that all you got?

I just have always found it interesting that many people believe g-d is male.  Personally, I believe it would be wrong to assign any gender to g-d.

God is essentially sexless because he is spirit. However, his characteristics are that of a father. He is a protector, a provider, he is strong.....not to say that women are not these things but when you think of your dad (if he was a present and good dad) he is strong, he provides for his family, you equate him to superman as a child......he can do anything and everything! So, I think that this is where people began associating him with a male, and ultimately a father figure. But in truth he is neither male nor female.

If you don't want to "get into" why you believe g-d is male, and you don't want to back up what you say the bible says, don't respond.  Works just like hitting that ignore button...POOF!  You don't have to "get into" it.

Besides that, where do you get off calling people rude?  From the first time I began posting in this forum, I have found you to be one of the rudest people here.  Within my first five posts, you called me a crybaby for calling you out on something that was wrong...then you deleted the thread!

I'm taking a page from Falconer's book...as of this post, I will stop feeding the troll.
