Scam or not?

So someone called me like 2 hrs name Jeffery Kay and said I waom a trip to the bahamas or something like that. Supposely they ran a sweepstakes or something like that but it was probably one of those scam offers I did. You know the 20 pages of offers you have to fill to get like .25c. I got 3 days and 2 nights and get unlimited gourmet food. He also said I get to bring 2 friends for free. All he said is I need to pay for airline airfair and some kind of taxes to go in and out of the destination something like 59.99 then he asked for credit card info and I said forget it I am not interested and hung up. Caller ID said "Comp Cruise" What you think?

Its better to be safe than sorry. Putting out your credit info can to detrimental to your score, rating, etc. It can prevent you from buying a car, or a house. Its better to not give out that info.

I read about one of these outfits a few months back.  The cruise was real, but it was on a shabby old cargo ship, not a cruise ship.

I would have hung up too!! I had a telemarketer call me about a cruise awhile back and he said allot of great things but then needed my cc # I told him I had to talk to my husband about all my cc usage. He tried to sweet talk me, O come on your husband will be surprised. I told him ya when he gets the statement in showing how much I spent behind hes back. The guy said he was unable to call me back to speak with my husband. I knew then it was a scam!!!

You did the right thing.  If it sounds too good to be true, it definately isn't. 

Chances are everything he said was "true" but he didn't tell you the whole truth.  4th rate ship; pay your own way there and back; coupons only cover part of the cost -- so you pay the rest. Once he has your credit card, all the hidden charges will show up in a month or two.  By then it's too late.

I would think this was a scam. I think you did the smart thing.

Yeah I was like ya at first everything free then 5 minutes later he talks about CC. That was the catch. It might be true but there a catch. Telling me free all the gourmet food you want for free. Lol.

I wonder what they consider "gourmet" food.... I heard in New York, carp is considered gourmet, but here in Minnesota it's just a bottom feeding garbage fish. You never know...

Also, anything that is free should be free all the way. I once got a call about winning some ski trip but they needed my credit card to handle shipping costs of the package material. I'm thinking "They can cough up a few hundred dollars for the trip, but can't pay the shipping charges?! Naw, must be a scam" Later that week, there was a news report about this scam that had been targeting our city. Luckily for me I didn't fall for it.
