Any ides for a child's scrapes and cuts?
« on: July 19, 2010, 08:05:09 am »
My little nephew fell down the other day and got his face pretty scrapped it. He's 3 and just can't stand any kind of bandaid of his face. He'll just scratch them right off. Same goes if he ever gets a scab he picks it off. Does anyone have any idea on what to do? He keeps scratching and picking at his cuts and anytime you put something over it he'll take it right off, we're worried that he'll end up with scarring if he keeps at it.

Did anyone talk to him about scarring? How does he feel about them?

I never had scabs on my face but I can remember getting them on my knees. As a kid, I did pull them off but not all at once. When others told me not to and it could leave a scar, I did not listen. It was an apathetic feeling about scars. As I grew up, I grew out of this habit.

I don't think anyone can talk to him seriously about it. He's only three.  ;D I know I mentioned the scarring but they're mostly worried that it won't heal because he keeps scratching and picking at it.

Wash it well, put on neosporin, put on a band-aid.
