I doubt it.  People will find something else to kill each other over.

Definitely-people would have no problem finding some stupid thing to kill each other over.  Oil, Gold, Diamonds, Money, Some other hate like race or thoughts of other types.  Humans just have a war streak in them.

I think it depends on what religions you are talking about. Major ones? Damn straight. I admit this may be a generalization, but it just seems like such an easy question to answer. People would still kill each other over things that klkwid mentioned, but atleast we could erase one of those bad close-minded things that secretly spread hate.

misguided, deceived, and ignorant people start wars in the name of their religion. the bible is my religion and the God of that bible said the most important commandment is to love one another. SO....not seeing where this is secretly spreading hate. and i wish people would stop putting christianity in the same grouping as islam. they ARE NOT the same, they DO NOT worship the same god and the KORAN is full of hate. I have read the koran, my dad was a muslim, born in iran..a christian convert now praise God. BUT i have a very personal perspective of how that religion does spread hate....islam says to kill infidels (anybody that says Jesus is God, or Jews, or just plain Americans) their religion does not promote peace.

but wars would exist because people (imperfect, flawed people) get an idea in their head that they believe in strongly enough to go out and kill over it. it could be anything! it just so happens (and i think a large portion of these posts would prove my point) people's faith and the attack of that faith harbors extremely strong emotions and it causes them to do drastic things to protect it.

How many of these used religion as an incentive to fight?

I think the world would be more peaceful, because some of the world's earliest wars were because of religeon. WWII is an example of a war with murder that was based on religeon of a group of people.

Wow! That is your proof! hmmmmm...

This is an example of how those who don't believe use reason as the foundation for their "non-belief."

Really? Perhaps you have some solid evidence for this contention. Wives tales will not work here!

Really? Are YOU denying the fact Joseph Stalin placed bans against the church during World War II and also imprisoned all priests? He later reversed his decision, but it cannot be denied this DID take place.

Are you also denying Adolf Hitler professed a belief in an Aryan Jesus Christ, a Jesus who fought against the Jews? And did the Holocaust then take place, but have nothing to do with religious beliefs and practices of Jewish people? Hitler wrote, and also spoke regularly, of his interpretation that Christianity was his main motivating factor behind his antisemitism.

These are but two examples, if you want more I will furnish them, but are you so pompous that you would deny religion was a factor involved in WWII?

All accounts of Stalin's supposed 'atheism' have pretty much been discounted.  The facts point to Stalin's remaining religious, even pious, for many years longer. He believed, because of Lenin's teachings, that religion was an opiate for the Russian people and stood in the way of Communism.
