Children and concerts
« on: June 30, 2010, 08:13:59 am »
How do feel about taking small children (under 5 years) or infants to a rock concert?  Do you think it's acceptable?  Do you think being in a concert atmosphere will cause harm to them in the future?

I don't think it would cause them harm in the future but I don't think it's appropriate not only is it too loud but how could you really enjoy yourself if you constantly have to look after a small child.  There'd be a lot of people there and no one sits in their seats I'd be worried about them getting lost in the crowd.  You'd have to hold their hand so they wouldn't run off.  They'd probably get bored too and start squirming around and want to annoy you while you are trying to enjoy the concert.  There are some places where children are not old enough to go because of their behavior and neither of you would enjoy it.

I think if the rock concert is in a out side area I think it is OK. But when it is in the inside area it might be to loud for a infant.

I don't know if it would cause any harm, but it would probably be very boring for the child.  My parents dragged me to various concerts, and I was always bored out of my skull.

I don't know about permanent harm, but I think it's pretty stupid. Most rock concerts I have been too are loud, full of pot smoke and have mosh pits that start in random places. Who would take a kid to something like that?
