Same Sex Relationships
« on: June 24, 2010, 05:23:59 am »
How would you respond if your son or daughter came to you and todl you they were gay?  Would it change the way you felt about them or how you treated them?  Is it a choice they make or something they are born with?

It wouldn't bother me if they are happy. Happy relationships are based on the people not what sex they are or aren't.

It is something they are born with. I would never treat my children any different. Nothing my children could do would ever make me hate them or mistreat them.
I feel everyone should respect everyone's views. But god made adam and eve, not adam and steve. I think it is a choice. it says in just about every holy book that it is an abomination. I believe it throws off the balance of nature. you never see gay animals. if everyone were gay, the human population would go extinct. bottom line if you're gay, that's your choice, i respet your choice but i still believe it's wrong.

I know religion is bologna, i was using adam and eve as a metaphor. like if you have a cd player, to complete it you need a cd. not another cd player. women complete men. and (most) animals don't even have intimate relationships between each other and the topic was on same sex relationships.

I think its a decision  they make on their own and they should be respected.everyone live their lives the way they want to and how they feel.its not their fault if they have feelings for their own sex.even if i dont like it i wouldnt fight it

lol in all honesty animals can like same sex also. I have 2 female cats when the older one goes in heat the younger one tries to help her out lol so it does happen same thing goes for most animals.

It would not bother me. All I would want is for them to be happy. It is their life their choice. They will either find out that it is right for them or they dont care for it but I will always stand behind their descicion and love them for their individuality.

You still holes in your theory as some animals have been known to change sex in a single sex environment. (example : http://www.genetics.org/cgi/content/full/164/2/613 ) Also a female animal has become pregnant in captivity without a male. (example: http://www.findingdulcinea.com/features/science/environment/Parthenogenesis--When-Animals-Reproduce-Without-a-Mate.html )
As for gay animals : http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2004/07/0722_040722_gayanimal.html

And just to toss my own theory into the mix : Some people are born gay. I really think this is true. I think we are inherently both sexes and the fact that hermaphrodites exist is evidence enough of that. It is my personal belief that every cell has the capability of preforming the functions of every other cell in your body. Each cell has a specialty but can function in the same way that the others can. With that being said why not take it one step further and say that maybe memories are stored in every cell. If that is true wouldn't it be possible even probable that we pass on memories to our children? And if we were ever able to tap into the true power of every cell in our body being sick might be a thing of the past. If our cells could function at their true potential looking out for the other cells and picking up the slack for the weaker cells etc illness wouldn't stand a chance.

I am not an advocate for it and I certainly don't practice it lol! But I don't think people choose it either. Well maybe SOME do (LOL) but I think most know early on who they are or are not attracted to. I can only say what if I had been born that way? Would I want people to treat me badly because of it?

I think back some times to this boy that I went to elementary school with. I heard some older kids saying the boy was gay. I didn't know what that meant then. I know that he did always seem more like a girl then a boy. I always treated him kindly even though many others did not. His demeanor never changed over the years he was always very feminine. I learned a few years back that he is in fact gay. I really believe he never had a choice.
