:(that happened to me about 25 years ago. didnt know that was still going on.  i worked for Shell Oil in New Orleans.  They accused me of doing something i didnt do. i think it was because i was pregnant and i brought up the fact that there was only one black in the whole office.  another young black guy came in for an interview and they didnt even look as his work. :icon_rr:

WOW if you think you can fight this you should. A settlement from firing you being pregnant would be a chunk of change. Otherwise im sorry for the loose of your job.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's illegal to fire you for being pregnant, and "you weren't improving" sounds like a really sketchy reason to fire you.

The same thing happened to me 28 years ago.  I was eight months along and the jerk ordered me to buff the floor.  I worked in a candy store, and another employee offered to switch task with me.  The evil jerk said, "no, I told her to do it."  When I had trouble with the industrial sized buffer, he came over and snatched it from me, and said if I couldn't do the job, I could just leave.  I did, long story short, he fought me with the labor board, and he lost.  Even sadder, the a-hole is now considering running for senate.  Wish you blessed health and congrats on your pregnancy :peace:

I just got fired today from my job as a waitress. I really loved my job, and I feel as though I did nothing wrong.. however the manager said I wasn't improving with the training they gave me.. ugh but whatever i know its because i just broke the news to them i am pregnant . So I'm just ****** out of a job. So now more fusion cash. yay.

It is truly sad when companies fire someone for whatever reason!  When you get the chance fight it!  Most companies will try to get away with anything that they think that they possibly can!  At least you can earn some income off Fusion Cash!  But my best advice, in the meantime, get your paperwork together and fight it!

How surprising that so many pragnent women got fired because of the pragnency! Well Life is unfair but  take it in positive ways! Regard this as your vacation and expect another beautiful life to come to the family! Hang in there and come here often! :peace:

Thank you! It hurts so much because I loved my job as a waitress, it was so new and exciting for me. I did struggle a bit at first with getting used to how to be a server, but they knew that I had no previous serving experience upon hiring me.. I'm just so heartbroken.. and unfortunately I will try to fight it but i know that in the state of ct an employer can fire u for any reason because your an At Will' employee. it sucks.. I could never fire a pregnant woman .. thats just so heartless and cold. They didnt even give me a chance, even if their reasoning about me not performing up to their standards was truly the reason why they fired me. They just assumed I wasn't improving when I was putting 100% of my effort and time into this job. I'm still really angry and dissapointed.

They also told me that I could use them as a reference for my next job, which i almost laughed in their face about, because I had only been there less than a month before they fired me, and why would I want to put a job down in an application in which I was fired from?

Of course all the managers were men so they didnt understand. They made me feel like a failure and really made me feel stupid. =[

i understand how you feel. i was let go from my job because i was pregnant and they claimed that they didn't want me to hurt myself. at the time, i was already 6 months!!! they could have given me a heads up if my pregnancy was gonna be a problem. i'm trying to fight it so i hope something good comes from it!!!

Since you said that you loved what you are doing, I am sure that you will do just fine if you take up waiting tables again.  It's easy to say, but just ignore the nonsense that others think. I have learned to just let it go and do not allow yourself to feel down about other people's terrible behavior.

I have decided that I am going to try my best and fight this. I will be contacting the EEOC on monday to file a claim for discrimination. I think i have a good argument . I also have reason to sue for money because I dropped a class at my college at half tuition for this job specifically because I wanted to better balance my work and school schedule. I really hope I win this, because I will be able to stand up for other pregnant women in the workforce whom have been discriminated against. Its sickening how employers think they can come up with b/s and cover up discrimination and get away with it.
