yes. Give it to him. if the MLB had replay, everyone would be happy and get a good nights sleep.

:P  That was a close call. Clearly the runner was safe. I watched that this morning on the news too! Unfortunately the call stands in the Majors  ???  >:( :angry7:

I think they should reverse it if possible...I mean, he was out, and even the umpire admitted it afterward.....
any other game, it wouldn't be a big deal, but a PERFECT GAME is different

Actually, as far as the call standing, you're incorrect. It was appealed to Bud Selig, within the guidelines for MLB, and he has 24 hours in which to make the decision to recall the play and thus the outcome for the pitcher. That is opening up a huge can of worms though, so I doubt that it will be overturned. There have been instances in the past where calls were reversed, home runs taken away, BUT they also affected the outcome of the game and this one would not. I agree it was a damn shame, he was out! Jim Joyce, the umpire in question though is one of the best in the league, said he did blow the call, and he feels terrible about it, but that's the way it goes.

stokeman, I don't know if you typed the wrong thing or watched a different replay, but the runner was OUT.

YES!!!  Just because the umpire doesn't mean that it was right.

Do you mean the runner was "out?"

The runner was definitely out. I just read on Yahoo that he got a corvette for a consolation prize.

Last I heard is that the commisioner is still thinking about it.

But eithor way, the pitcher will go down in the history books.  He'll probably be more famous if it isn't reversed -- since we all know the call was wrong.

no. why? because this happened in that broncos/chargers game where the ref accidentaly blew the whistle when it was a fumble. they cant change that. sometimes life isnt fair.

Uh, yeah, well we're talking about baseball here and not football. No comparison whatsoever.

Good discussion here....I feel like the call should be reversed, but then again, it does raise the question: "what about other bad calls in the past"? Yes, I agree, this is slightly different considering that 1) It was a PERFECT game (would have been THE THIRD ONE THIS YEAR!!)and 2) the umpire admitted he missed the call.....I feel really bad for Galarraga (pardon the spelling if it's wrong) and, considering that I'm a former umpire, I can understand what it's like to be in Jim Joyce's shoes too, but I don't know if it's really fair to reverse the call...the only way I think it would be possible would be if Joyce was able to (and had the power to) talk to Selig and convince him to do so...then I think it would be good
