Did you ever change religions?
« on: May 17, 2010, 08:35:52 pm »
About 9 years ago I changed religions. My views haven't changed. Just the style. It is more relxed and laid back. I have a lot more close friends.

Would you ever change or stay with the same old?

I changed from Catholic to Christian.  Same as what you're saying, more relaxed etc.  I think there are pros and cons to both.  {shrug}  I don't consider myself either anymore.

um..Catholicism is part of Christianity.  if the question is has anyone changed denominations within Christianity, then yes, Catholic to non-denominational.

Yup.  This really has to do more with faith.  Changed from Judaism to Christianity in 2001.

I was raised a catholic--mom and dad took my sister and I to church every sunday, went through sunday school and the early sacraments.  In my 30's, I did go to a few different churches, to find one that believed more like  my beliefs--but I ended up staying catholic.  I used to go to church every sunday, now I hardly ever go.  I have been a new-wave/christian type service.  I think (socially) it is funner, and more involvement to mingle with others, and they had good usefull messages.    Services are more energetic, and livelier, and the messages pertained more to "now" issues.   The catholic church (that I still belong to), is pretty old fashioned.  Mostly older people go to it, but there are some younge people there also.  I fall asleep alot during the sermons--because it is boring, and messages are about what happened in the past; they are not geared to today's living.   It gets to be boring--like you are just watching performers on a stage, and have no way to participate except by singing.  But, I was born a catholic, and when asked what my religion is, I will reply "catholic."
