How do you know you are in love with someone?

Well, being single as I am, I fall in love at least once a day..............the super market, or everytime I see a Marie Osmond Commercial   LOL

I knew many years back I was in love with my husband due to the fact I would wake up and all I could think about was him. Is he okay, happy, what if something happens to him. Its different for everyone but I never got nervous around him. I just felt very comfortable when I was around him.

it's meant finding an unconditional trust within the relationship...and wanting to share and experience most of what I do with that person

and just the thought of it makes you sick to your
stomach. if you've ever fought to have them in
your life, instead of letting them go...

finding even their flaws somehow perfect...

When you don't have to force yourself to think about that person, you simply can't help but think about them often.
When your biggest fear changes to losing that one person.

those are just a couple things I think of when I think of knowing when you are in love.

I wish I knew the answer to that.  I have been hopelessly in love one time in my life to the point that I was willing to do anything for him.  But how do you recover from a heart break?  When you have loved and then lost it will you ever love like that again?  I thought I was in love a second time but now i'm not so sure that it was love.  Is it possible to love someone and never wish them any harm, want to be with them but not be actually in love!  Because I think there is a big difference between loving someone and being in love.  I am in that situation now, where I feel that I have actually fallen out of love.  Now I just feel stuck! It is a very complicated situation & I just don't know where to go from here!

I feel the same way. Once you fall out of love I think the magic is gone. You cannot get it back. I love a few special people but I am not in love with anyone. It's hard when it happens, you wish you didn't feel the way you do, and it's even harder when the other person is still in love with you. You have to either be honest and tell them, hoping they 'get it' ( mine still doesn't and we've been divorced 16 months ) or go through life pretending everything is good and living a lie for someone you don't really want to be with.

I don't think there's a litmus test for it.  Just do what you feel like, and try not to worry.  I have known people who didn't seem that into each other in lasting relationships, and then people who swore they would die for each other cheat and break up.

you will know when you are really in love not the little crushes when you think he or she is great. true love is when you share everything and want to be togther all the time when he or she is your true best friend you have to be friends to make love work.

I'm in a long distance relationship and it's been like this since the beginning (two years now) and it's hard, but I can't imagine not having him. I get sad when I remember when we just sat together and watched TV...in silence lol. It's just enjoying the other person's company no matter what you do - you like having them around even when you're doing absolutely nothing. But hey, I'm moving home this summer since I'm graduating and I'll get to see him everyday in person! 

Thanks for starting this thread, it's reminding me of everything he does for me (especially the little things) and how he called me about an hour ago to wake me up so I can study for my final lol

I think that is a pretty accurate description of what it means to be in love. You can be lounging around the house doing nothing being bored, but if one of you has to leave for a few days, then both of you are really sad.

There are other aspects, but that is definitely one of them.
