i think its plain stupid. even if it is a law...the guvernment doesnt have enough power to take some type of action. Even though immigrants are illegal, its not enforced.
Not enforced but CAN be. I am willing to take up arms if need be!
Oh my goodness, you're a hillbilly. I bet anything you're probably going to end up shooting one of your family members...or yourself. Hoping for the latter.  ;D

I am illegal.. have been for the last 22years.  I speak English, does that means I can stay lol... Please there is plenty of ignorant people who agree to this law only because it validates their racism.   Because I look white, I speak English without an accent I have been able to live as an american most of my life.  I work, I pay taxes, I send my kids to school, I volunteer at several organizations, I am involve in my community.  I also pay fines to immigration, an attorney, and several other fees just to stay here, but yet I am still illegal.  I know what you are going to say, that I am stealling your jobs, that I am braking the law by staying here, fortunatelly for me no one is perfect and well neither am I.  Good luck on having an Arizona free of Latinos.   :bootyshake:
^_^ Don't worry about cupcake. She's just a die hard idiot racist. Luckily not everyone thinks like her. She doesn't read very well either. I see you wrote "living as an american" and she thinks it's her right to tell you you're not an American. Huge difference between "living as" and actually is. Thank you for also saying you pay taxes. For some reason she just wouldn't believe it.

I wish you luck in getting your papers. I don't think this law is going to last long anyway. There are so many more people against it then there are for it. They held a protest for it and thousands of people showed up, as opposed to the people who held a rally for it with only a few hundred.

They tried to make a law like this in California back in the 90's. That law went down faster then CuppyCakes's I.Q. There are so many high ranking opponents to it, including the President himself that it shouldn't make it very far. Not to mention the legal issues.

I'm not saying there isn't an immigration problem. I'm just saying there are better ways to handle it.

I just wanted to point out to that their has been several polls and research from several of the national broadcast networks such as CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, MSNBC, CNN and a few others that show 62% of American's support the new Arizona Immigration Law and 70% of Arizonan's support the law. Several independent polling groups such as Rasmussen Reports, Polling Point, FAIR, Poll Watch, Quinnipiac University poll, Gallup, Pew Research Center, Wall Street Journal/NBC show, PBS.org, and the list goes on. What I find interesting is that all of the national broadcast networks and the independent polling groups are showing just about exact polls. Besides Oklahoma, at least 15 other states are considering following Arizona and proposing similar legislation, according to the Immigration Policy Center: Arkansas, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Utah.  Did you know that In 2007 the Oklahoma Legislature passed the Oklahoma Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act 2007, which, until Arizona’s passage, was considered the most stringent anti-immigrant law in the country. The law makes it a crime to knowingly transport unauthorized immigrants; requires state contractors to check the immigration status of all workers; and revokes business licenses of employers who knowingly hire unauthorized immigrants. In addition, it denies unauthorized immigrants driver’s licenses and requires proof of citizenship for certain government benefits. Some of the proposals they are considering include confiscating vehicles driven by undocumented immigrants and preventing birthright citizenship to children born to undocumented immigrants in the United States.
My State of Minnesota has been discussing and planning for a similar law as Arizona's, and their are a few other States that are considering passing an even tougher law than Arizona's new law. With this being said I think it will be though to stop the majority of Arizonan's and American's that support the new Arizona law and an even tougher time stopping each State that passes a similar law.

What they need to do is make it even more difficult for the companies that are hiring illegals. Companies should be required to verify legal status and not hire anyone who doesn't meet the standard and if they don't and they are still hired that company should be fined an amount that would discourage them from doing so.  Also take away tax benefits for the company to discourage them from hiring illegals.

Their are many companies that are currently using the E-Verify System but the Government needs to mandate and implement the E-Verify System in every State and make it a law. Currently honest companies have opted in on using the E-Verify System and the dishonest corrupt companies could care less about the new system because then they will lose money. Once the Government and all States enact the E-Verify System by making it law and mandating each company to implement the E-Verify System then the dishonest corrupt companies will have to play by the rules and will have to think about their employees instead of greed.
Do all U.S. employers use the E-Verify System?

No. Participation is voluntary for most employers; however, a few states have enacted laws that require certain employers to participate, while several others are considering similar laws. Additionally, former President George W. Bush ordered Federal contractors to participate.

You're right about the polls on tv, I have seen that as well. But how many of those people voting are high ranking government officials? The President himself is against it, not to mention whole entire cities that are actually boycotting Arizona. Yes the people giving their vote on t.v. have a say but I live in L.A., a city boycotting Arizona among many others. So even if I agreed with what they are doing someone higher up doesn't which would pretty much make my say worthless, am I right? Some boycotts were even approved unanimously, so say if 100% of people in L.A. agreed with Arizona it totally wouldn't matter seeing as 100% of the officials actually voting to boycott Arizona disagreed.

As for Oklahoma those are more geared toward not letting them work and receive certain benefits right? Which we have here as well that and the driver license one. As for the transporting thing is that in to the state like smuggling, or like just giving someone a ride? Because if it's smuggling then isn't that already illegal? Confiscating the car is also already in practice isn't it? Once ANY ONE is caught operating a vehicle without a license isn't it automatically impounded? We already have that going on. All of those seem relatively sane, all except for denying citizenship of children born to undocumented immigrants. That's just ludicrous. Where would the child's home country be if we deny them the country they were born in? That's just dare I say it..."un-American". Not only that it creates more "immigrants", I write "immigrants" because I wouldn't even know what to call someone who was born in this country yet is denied citizenship. They would be some kind of pseudo-immigrant mutant.

This law and that idea to deny citizenship to people actually born here to undocumented people is just another example of people going too far. Truly, can someone tell me what does an immigrant look like? I get the feeling from some of the responses in this thread that a lot of people are going to think Hispanic. Which also leaves people who are actually legal up at the mercy of racist cops and vigilante idiots. Even if you are "under the suspicion of being illegal" you can be arrested. How can you tell who is illegal or not by looks, really? Would you be able to pick out an undocumented person from a line up 100% of the time? No! Which worries me, because how much more of this will be allowed before we end up having our own American version of the Holocaust? Right now it's people who "look illegal" but how long before someone (It might have already happened, not sure thought.) puts out a description of what they think an illegal person looks like? What if it read an illegal person has blue eyes? What if it read an illegal person has dark skin? What if it read that an illegal person has a trait that you have? What's to stop you from getting arrested? Or worse?

I don't understand what you mean by "But how many of those people voting are high ranking government officials?". I would say that none of the people polled are high ranking government officials. We are already aware that the majority of government is completely out of touch with mainstream America. That was evidenced with the health care debacle. It is a fact that the majority of Americans approve of the Arizona law. The majority of people in California may not approve, but that is not the majority of Americans. California is known as a liberal leaning state, while the rest of America tends to be much more conservative. And again, the Arizona law does not give law enforcement the right to stop someone just because they "look" illegal. They must be doing something to draw the attention of authorities (ie committing a crime) before they can be asked to prove citizenship. This in no way compares with the Holocaust. No one is advocating genocide here. All they are asking is that people go through the correct legal process in order to live and work in the US. Most countries have much harsher immigration laws than the US.

I believe it's a good law.  Now don't get me wrong.  Anyone in an underdeveloped country has every right to better themselves, even if it means going to another country to do so.  However, it must be done legally.  Too many of the wrong people (terrorists, criminals, etc.) have been crossing the borders of America and causing problems.  Also, someone who enters the country illegally, and partakes of that country's social programs and services without contributing anything to it is not acceptable.  There are laws of citizenship where those who are not,can become as if they are.  Those laws are in place for a reason.  Why not do it that way, instead of illegally?

well everytime that capture a terrorist seems like they are here legally and went thru the proper procedures to become a citizen. So its actually the wrong people using our laws against us. I have yet to hear of a illegal immigrant from mexico or central america trying to blow us up. I kind of think these people help protect us more  than say illegals coming from the canadien border.

in my opnion the government needs to find a better solution to keeping the illegals out. maybe part of that solution would be making immigration laws easier.

Well I have mixed feelings about this one.  I don't like the way its been done but I do feel that everyone that comes to america needs to be legal.  Jobs are getting hard to find and if the illegals are getting them instead of the people that live here that are legal thats wrong.  We pay taxes and the only taxes they are paying is at the gas pumps and grocery stores.  Thats not fair.  I don't think the way they are treating them is right at all.  But its not right that they are here illegally either.  I have mexicans living across from me and I think they are good people we talk everyday just about but they are legally here.  This isn't really a easy fix b/c I feel everyone should have the right to live in a sociaty of freedom but its gone so wrong in many different ways.  We as americans have lost alot at other people from other country's coming in and changing things that we have had  in law and our rights of things taken from us.  Too much wrong and no one who can fix it.

Sorry, but you are absolutely misinformed.  Most captured terrorists have crossed into the US illegally.  The radicals that flew our own aircraft into the twin towers were illegal, and had crossed into the US through Canada.

However, there are cell groups in the US that sponsor certain individuals (terrorists) to come over to the US and they provide food and housing for them.  Are there some "legal" terrorists or activists in the US?  Sure, but you need to check your statistics about most terrorists captured were US citizens....NOPE!!

Check the statistics of the Muslims crossing into the US from Mexico right now.  Are they all terrorists....no.  Are some?  Probably.  Thing is....just 10 years ago there were hardly any Muslims crossing over....now check the stats.  There was a big print up about it just 4 months ago.  As many Muslims are crossing over the borders of Mexico as Mexicans.

I do agree though that we don't fear our southern neighbors hurting us at all.  They seem to want to support the US, and make a better life for their families, which is what America is all about for.  The others?  Not so much.
