When I was first starting out after declearing Chapter 7 Bankruptcy I used a Secure Credit card that I had to pay $59.00 per year.  That card can be found at http://www.orchardbank.com  once you build up your credit then you can go to other low intrest cards like http://www.capitalone.com  Good luck to you and never forget becarfull of every thing you do on this site and all the offers there may be hidden fees in them so make sure that you read each offer and there TOS.

One of the easier way might be to apply to a department store ones first and use those to establish credit...before you can just have your parents add you as an authorized user and leech off your parents credit score but the new system changed that. Wish you the best of luck.

Dragonmaster25 I just saw your baner and you got a payout of over $500.00 how did you do that and how much cash out of pocket did you have to lay out?

From what I understand because the economy is so bad it is really hard right now for people to get credit cards. But you can go to any search engine and type in credit card offers

I would suggest trying to get a department store card or a gas card.  Don't get a card that you have to pay a fee for having, that's just crazy.  None of my credit cards have a fee other than interest.  My sister is going through the same thing right now.  My first credit card was a Visa through First National Bank of Omaha, and I got it when I was in college.

If you're still living at home, try having one of the utilities put in your name. Paying that bill every month will help you establish yourself as a creditworthy person. If you're on your own, having a job and paying your rent and bills on time (use checks, not cash) will achieve the same purpose. Good luck.

I would try Orchardbank.com .... or capitalone.com

Also, you might try whatever bank you actually bank at.. they might be able to help you out!

try citicards , get a student card, all you need to do is fax/mail them a copy of your school ID & tuition bill. and you get approved just like that. you'll probably start off with like 500$ limit but over time, you'll build credit and increase your credit limit & be able to get new cards. w00t

When I was 18 (only a year ago) I applied for my first credit card with Bank of America.  I got approved immediately and I got an $800 limit.  Give them a try.

When I turned 18 I got 2 credit cards (I am now in debt, kept telling myself it wouldn't happen but then lost my job and couldn't catch up so watch out) but the 2 credit cards I got were from 1st Financial bank and they gave me a 150 dollar credit limit and the other was capital one and they gave me a 500 dollar credit limit.

not sure if a pre-paid card is what you're looking for,
but i've had a couple of them..
i find that they serve most purposes just as well an anything else.
and they're pretty safe.

mine were green dot.
