"Death penalty all the way"
- wow. The OP didn't specify that this was about child molesters and that is why I question that.
I am thinking about all the registered sex offenders who happen to be one because they were 19 and had sex with a 17 year old. The younger person's parent decided
they did not like the older male/female, so they hauled their child down to the police station and had them arrested. You think they should be locked up for life or actually given a death penalty? Or how many times has a young woman cried rape just because a boyfriend didn't call them back? Now, I am NOT even remotely speaking about 'child molesters' here - that is an entirely different aspect of this altogether. I read this and felt I had to throw my point in the mix because I feel it's a valid one. I don't feel you can throw every labelled 'sex offender' in the same group, so I don't feel the punishment by death is all inclusive and certainly not merited. I have a friend who's son
is now and will forever be listed as a sex offender because of the first scenario I described. It has basically ruined his life. He is now 29 and had sex
with his girlfriend of 2 years when she was a senior in high school (almost 18) and he was a freshman in college, just celebrated his 19 birthday. The girl's mother never liked him, he came from 'the wrong type of family' as she put it and she had threatened to break them up no matter what it took. She even set the entire scenario up, knowing they thought they were alone in the house, so she could catch them in bed together! It was hell for everyone and still is for the young man. That is why I don't go with the life in prison and/or death for every one of them out there.
I will say that if anyone had touched one of my children or ever touches one of my grandchildren,
I will be locked up for the rest of my life. I don't believe, knowing myself as well as I do, that I would just walk away and allow the courts to deal with it.
