I DON'T UNDERSTSAND WHY MEN CHEAT AND WHEN THEY GET CAUGHT THEY TRY TO APOLOGIZE. IT'S DONE THE PAIN HAS COME AND NOTHING CAN BE DONE TO IT TAKE AWAY AND RESTORE THE TRUST???

 Hate to say it, but it is the *bleep*! It's testosterone, and it's in a man's nature if they are not commited, to roam. like a tom-cat does. Not all men are like this, some have evolved enough to pair for life, as well as women, but I have a feeling that there are a lot of gullible and clueless women out there in similar situations!!!

I'd have to agree with the last two comments. It sucks, but one of the first comments on here was also true: Not all guys cheat. Yes, its common, but not everyone does it. My first boyfriend never cheated much less looked at a girl in anyway other than a friend while with me. My 2nd cheated on me 9 times, so it just kinda depends upon the guy.

Men cheat because of the status of their current relationship and/or their options in women. If a couple has a strong relationship and are clear of any temptations around them, there won't be any cheating. Unfortunately, that's not the case for most couples.

Its wrong just to assume men cheat, women cheat as well. Why does anyone cheat should be the right question to ask.
And people cheat because they are unhappy either with themselves, partnership or just plain ignorant.

Agree with that. I recently saw statistics saying women have now SURPASSED men in the cheating department. They don't tend to brag/talk about their affairs as much as men do, so it doesn't seem as prevalent.

Not all men cheat.  Women cheat as well.  When I first started dating my bf we both laid down rules that we would not tolerate eachother cheating.

I totally agree with mc1962, my older brother's girlfriend cheated on him 3 different times and he finally ended the relationship after the 3rd time. The only reason why he decided to take her back is because of their daughter they have together but after the 3rd time is said enough is enough.

I think people who cheat don't love and respect themselves enough at the first place.
People who are in a relationship need to respect each other.

not all men cheat, but those that do, do because they figure they'll get away with it.  You keep taking him back, he's gonna keep cheatin'.  Men have instincts that compel them to mate with as many partners as possible, and only those of us that can contain that urge and/or have a high enough moral fiber won't.  Women have a similar instinct to upgrade their partner, but society has made that more taboo -- I'd guess it happens about as often, but isn't spoken about as much.  In fact, it's probably more devastating to a man when his woman cheats (I know women will argue that, I admit it's debatable) because society has made it more of an offense for a woman to cheat, and we don't expect it to ever happen.

It is a combination of things the testosterone, the guy's ability to resist his urges, and how serious he is about having a girlfriend.  Some guys are happy with one night stands, others look for that deep intimate relationship with another human being.

Personally I've never cheated.  I look for the intimate part, sex with a total stranger never really appealed to me.

I'd like to say that most guys look for that deep intimate relationship but I really don't know the statistics.

I actually dated a guy that cheated on me and I am no longer with him. I used to ask why he cheated but I have found out that I will never get a straight answer even if I asked him he would just lie to me. Don't try to stress on figuring out the answer just move on. Believe me its the best thing you can do.

sadly, women probably cheat just as much as men do... men just don't go around talking about it as much as women do.
