I have a few things that I've often wondered about, meaning I wounder if they could be an antique. in particular a old star wars toy that I've kept for a long time its a character that only appeared in the original star wars films. anyway how old dose a toy, or anything have to be before its considered an antique? :)

To be considered an antique, I think a toy has to be  fifty to one hundred years old.

Remember "Wheel-O" it was a wheel supported by magnetic ends and was very popular in the late 60s and early 70s? (Baby boomers)

The U.S. Government says 100 years and that's what they use to determine import value if you buy something abroad.  Knowledgeable antiques dealers and appraisers and reference books use 100 years as the criterion, too.

I will have to agree with the others in the forum...at least 100 years.

Thanks for asking the question and for others who answered it.

I have a Susie Cute doll that I got when I was 8 years old and some other figures from my youth (Jane and Johnny West and their horses, Thunderbolt, Thundercolt, and Poncho).

I guess I won't be around when they finally make it into the antique classification since it is 100 years.

I'll have to put a note in the box telling my kids to hold onto them a while so they won't put them out on a garage sale or something!

100 years antique,  but your doll might still be collectible toy and worth something
