I have little girls under age of 5 and I am uncomfortable with kissing of embrassing my husband (their father) in front of them.  I feel like I am giving them the idea that it is okay to be overly affectionate.  My girls are very loving so when they see us acting like this they do this to strangers too.  I don't like that.  So how much is too much?  Are you loving with your spouse in front of your kids?  Is is wrong to or not to?  (Ha Ha that is the question)

Don't let them do it to strangers, you can be affectionate with your spouse, but set limits with your children, talk to them, tell them that it isnt appropriate to do that with strangers and Mommy and Daddy love eachother, and that you are their parents, therefore giving them permission to do these things, but they can not. Teach them to shake hands with someone, or say hello, no huggin' and kissin', unless its close family.
Good luck, thats a toughie!!!

I agree with tzs.....
I am affectionate with my husband and I am cuddly/kissy with my child, but it's not ok with strangers.... also thankfully my child doesn't see that i'm affectionate with anyone else :)  so he knows this is a Mommy/Daddy thing

Nothing wrong with just normal kissing, but I don';t think anything "heavier" than that would be appropriate

I think it is actually healthy to show some affection in front of the kids... It shows them that you two really love each other. Hugging, kissing, holding hands, even massages are ok (just leave the erotic "massages" for the bedroom  ;) ). Then just make sure that they know the difference between mommy and daddy doing this because you are married and love each other, versus doing this with total strangers.

If you try to avoid showing affection in front of them, they may get the idea that it is somehow wrong to do that. You don't want that; you just want to teach them who it is right to do that with.

I have six year old boy/girl twins, which has led to some interesting situations for us with showing affection. We had to sit down and explain to them that kissing on the mouth is something that mommies and daddies do, not brother and sister. My husband and I do kiss in front of the kids, but nothing heavier than a quick smooch. We used to do things like playful swats on the behind as well, until my son decided that since Daddy was doing that to Mommy, he would too! I also think that showing affection in front of your children is a great thing to do, just not in a sexual way. You can do things like hugs, saying I love you, etc. It's very healthy for kids to see things like that, if they don't see their parents showing each other love they may grow up not knowing how to show affection themselves. JMO, anyway.  ;D

Just a normal kiss is fine...I wouldn't do anymore than that
