Best way to travel
« on: March 16, 2010, 06:00:37 pm »
I need to go on a trip for school next month.  I have to go from Maryland to New Jersey -- I could drive but i really don't want to :)
I am thinking I'll take amtrak - it is only a 2 1/2 hour ride and i can watch a movie or practice my presentation.

What is your favorite way to travel?

I enjoy all forms really-car, bus, train and plane-it just depends on what the trip entails...

short trip-probably car
medium distance trip (ie: MD to NY/NJ, etc.)-bus if it's cheap, train if it's a little more expensive but more convenient
plane-anything long distance where it takes the shortest amount of time to fly

for MD to NJ, i suggest train or bus...

I love road tripping. Especially if you have people to ride with you. I also really loving taking planes. If I'm lucky I get the window seat, I could literally stare out of it the whole trip...I might have scared the people sitting next to me. Oh well, only problem with the plane is I get the craziest headaches when the plane begins to descend.

I don't live where mass transit is readily available...I do miss it.  I prefer train, foot, and car.

Where in NJ are you going?  If for example you are going to Atlantic City or close to NYC I'd take the bus.  Check out www.megabus.com. It's cheap and they have wifi.  There are lots of tolls going from MD to NJ.  I went to Atlantic City summer before last and paid about $13 in tolls not to mention gas.  You can take the bus for about $20-$25.  Amtrak is expensive.  I'd either drive or take the bus.
