Would it be creepy? Or Flattering?
« on: March 08, 2010, 09:09:32 pm »
Imagine this...

Its a crowded high school cafeteria.  Over in a corner is an overweight woman that constantly gets teased because of her looks and weight.  She's sitting alone, and looks unhappy, the same way she does every day.  A guy comes up to her, stops, and tells her "You are beautiful.  Don't let anybody convince you that you're not."  and then walks away.

Would something like this be flattering?  Or would you think he's just a creep trying to just get an easy lay from someone he thinks has low self-esteem?  Or would it just be weird?

That could be flattering. But there is another angle to look at that from, if I was the woman I would think "Who said that I didn't think I was beautiful?"

I think it'd be weird if I was the woman.

No idea what the guy would be thinking - though maybe he's sucking up to another person, trying to "prove" he's a good guy and not shallow or something? I dunno, since he just walks away.

And I have to agree with GoGoKokiGo - I could also see it offending the woman a bit.

I suppose if he was trying to make her feel better, based on the premise that "she looked unhappy," then it was a kind thing to do, but might have produced a different response if he had addressed the unhappiness versus the beauty.

Might be kicking her while she's down. Plus who's to say what she's unhappy about? Might not have anything to do with her looks.

Okay...let me revise my story a bit...

What if this is high school and this girl is constantly teased because of her looks?

QFT. It's sort of implies that this person thinks that other people would tell her she is not attractive, which is an insult. How dare he!

If I were overweight and someone came up to me and said that I would also think "Well who said I was unattractive?"
It kind of implies that he thinks others see her as unattractive.. It kinda sounds like "Oh I'll tell that big fat ugly girl she's beautiful because no one else thinks that."

Just my opinion. But maybe I'm being too negative.

I will never understand why there is so many fat people in the first place. It is a pittiful situation. In my town there are tons of fat girls. What's even worse is that because the guys also outnumber the girls like 3 to 1 most of the girls think there crap don't stink. I keep thinking to myself yea you can keep thinking that all you want but if you was in Florida, New York, or Cali, you would not stand a chance. So keep lying to yourself and maybe someday you will wake up and see what is really going on. There is no excuse for people to be obese. If you a little overweight then ok it's not the end of the world. But when your over 100 pounds overweight then that is rediculous. And there is no excuse either. Some try to say o I just don't have the time to exercise. But yet you see them have time to spend watching tv or on the internet all day long. Some also try to say I can't afford to go to the gym. Ok then fill up milk jugs with sand and use them for dumbells. Then also walk around some blocks too. Or go to the mall in the morning and walk with the old people that seem to do just fine without a gym. If you make it a regular routine to get some exercise and watch what you eat it does not take long at all to get in shape. In fact when done right you can get into shape a lot faster then it takes to get fat. So I am done for today going on about stuff.

   :thumbsup:Here in California, most of the people are pretty!!![and thin}, but we don't go around telling overweight people that they need to loose weight.. They ALREADY know that!!!!Most of the people don't even mention it.

Maybe the guy has a crush on the girl and finally got the courage to get up and say something to her? You know some men find fat women attractive and skinny girls repulsive. I for one believe that it's not all about how you look thats attractive to people, it's what you are on the inside that counts.

Totally changes thing. That guy deserves 100 karma points and a cookie (In all seriousness, it's absolutely flattering in my opinion).

I sense a fat person has wronged you in some way.
