How do you feel about Roller Derby

I play on a all Female flat track roller derby team. I have come to find that allot of people tend to think I am this hardcore chick that just wants to go out and beat people up.
The truth is I am a kind hearted down to earth girl, and have feeling just like anyone else. I have been roller skating since I was 7 years old, and am 34 now. Skating is my passion.
Allot of what we do is not what you see on TV where they are throwing crazy elbow checks, and close line people. We appreciate the actual sport, and do not stage any of our plays. Its about positioning, balance, and timing. We do block, and whip people through, but there are no real fist fights that go on, as we are actually about the sport.
I would like to know what your first thought would be if you met someone for the first time and they told you they played roller derby. I am just curious, cause I get the craziest responses sometimes.

I was always under the assumption roller derby was more like wrestling fake fights and crazey  elbows,  I havnt seen roller derby in years  but i still know how to cut off the jam

I think that it's rad that you do that. People think I'm crazy for still riding a skateboard at 40. If you never lived it you'll never know. Much props to you!
