Who is child support designed for?

Is it really neccessary to put the non- custodial parent on child support if they are doing what they should be?

Child support is mandatory in the state I live in if there is a primary custodial parent.

Child support is for things like - housing, utilities, food, clothing, health insurance, transportation, etc, etc.

The child support is for the child.  I have a friend that does not get child support from his "wife" not divorced yet, he has the three children full time and supports them quite nicely, but as I explained to him - she shoudl still be giving him money for the children, whether he uses it now or puts it into college accounts for the children.  There will be more expenses as the children get older - high school rings, jackets, school activities and trips that I know he will want for his children to experience, that the money might not always be there if he does not save for it now.

Child support is meant to cover expenses for the child. Now days, people have taken child support to a whole new level. You hear about celebrities having to pay thousands of dollars in child support and that is just the women being greedy. It does not take thousands of dollars per month to care for a child. My daughter's father doesn't pay me a lick of child support even though it has been ordered. He is a dead beat dad! But then you have the men, who actually do for their children and these trifling women take them to court for more money, not because they need it, but because they are greedy. Child support is a sham now.

A lot of times men have to pay child support when they just shouldn't. : I'm not saying that sometimes it isn't a great thing, but other times it just isn't.

Child support are for single parents who are supporting their kids. I think most parents are women. Child support is used to help buy or pay for things the kids want.

You've got to be responsible for the child you brought into the world, being custodial has nothing to do with it
